If we are going to start mixing the name of Cassar with the name of a slave warrior, let's try one of these: Cassarcingetorix Cassaro Magno Cassar Africanus Cassarnibal etc.....
Full 15 thoughts here: http://northbankrsl.com/2014/03/24/real-salt-lake-vs-la-galaxy-15-thoughts/ A few things to post here Midday games are the worst. It sucks the life out of the game. Everything about it. The fans, the players, the energy, everything. Rob Friend is a piece of shit Nobody told me about the annoying lady at the top of section 25 who yells "get the ball back! come on! hustle! don't let them have it! get it!'. and then, once we get the ball... "kick it up! go at them! faster! harder!" It was like a really bad porno going on behind me... and no, she was not attractive Olmes Garcia looked like a 10 year old playing on a high school team. He was so lost with the pace of the game that it was embarrassing. Sabo haters can kiss my ass. The guy is a number 9. He isn't supposed to be running around the pitch like crazy. He stays in the middle to be worked off of. It baffles me how little people understand this yet claim to watch soccer for as long as they do.
Who was this Plata character you keep mentioning? I watched the game on TV and I'm pretty sure there is not Plata. I think you meant Platoh. Even a simple sports blog shouldn't be making that mistake, I can't imaging how ignorant you'd sound on tv saying the players name wrong the whole game.
The screech-owl is new this year. I wasn't going to say anything - thought you might have brought her with you.
Cassarnogen (like carcinogen) Good thoughts, 15, I also find it funny when people bag on Sabo as someone who should be sprinting 40 yards every 10 seconds and making plays for all the other forwards to score goals. Uhhhhh, read up on the game fellow RSL fans, the point of the 9 is to make the defenders work, occupy space, and put the ball in the net as a target forward. All of which Sabo does pretty damn well. Other forwards work off Sabo, not the other way around.
I heard a couple people bitching even after he scored. You do realize that there are only a few players on RSL that would have the composure to take as good of a first touch as Sabo did, right? Not to mention the confidence to then pick up his head, not rush things, and simply pass the ball into the net a few feet off the ground. He made it look really easy. That goal was far from "easy"
Here's a video if you haven't seen it. The video shows what we were seeing from the west side - that the sun was hitting the posters and it looked like flashes of light going off all over the east side. It actually looked better than what I thought it would when I heard what they had planned. http://www.realsaltlake.com/video/2014/03/24/rsl-2014-home-opener-tifo I think you're probably referring to the big Barra Real banner? We were wondering why we were celebrating Barra Real rather than RSL at the time.
Very cool. But the FO still plays the Believe song too loud. I can't tell if it's the crowd or the PA that's chanting. They need to change the way they do it. Maybe go through the song once and then stop and let the crowd carry it from there.
no, then about 12K of the 20K will just cheer killing it. The RSL FO has kinda screwed themselves over. They tried the stop it early and see if the fans will finish in this game and it didn't work. Of course, it was played waaaaaaaay too soon before the actual kick, so that didn't help. Still, the best times that this song are sung is when it starts in the stands. Around the 75thish minute in this game was one of the best I can remember.
I drunkingly stumbled over to see if I recognized anyone. I kinda look like a lady with my beautiful long blonde hair. And I was yelling a bit too. I had on the red pants. Hope you aren't talking about me!
Great point, I was wondering why everyone seemed so dead and out of it - I guess they were just tired from the sun, it really did suck the energy out of everything. I was baffled as it was packed but the atmosphere was so weird and just felt off. that explains it. I also totally agree about Garcia...I don't get the hype. He is a one trick pony and that trick is speed, seems like he was effective at first because he caught defenders off guard - now they all have the book on him and have no problem shutting him down.
No. They can defend with out giving a hard push from behind. The hard pushes allowed the LAG players to shoot forward like being shot out of a cannon and flail their arms like windmills, followed by the referees whistle. It happened virtually every time. After a couple of times the smart player adjusts his game.
I'm not sure I'd take it that far. The kid clearly has a ton of talent, it's just "raw" as they say. He seems to be the youngest in terms of maturity on the field, but he'll learn. He came on cold and couldn't find his rhythm in his first game of the season. Only time will tell, but I think he far from a one trick pony.
Not even close to writing Garcia off, he's only 21 years old and has tons of talent. He needs to learn a lot, but got raw skill that not many in the league have. He'll get there, just gotta be patient.
Garcia: Remember how Plata would just get plowed over last year, and how he's adjusted by coming to the ball and learning where to go to get passes from the midfielders? Garcia has the exact same opportunity, in fact he should watch Plata film. Give the kid time. He's as good in the air as about anybody, as fast as about anybody. He's just used to out-athlete-ing people and now has to bring up his tactical acumen, which is completely teachable. The second half was disappointing, but the draw is fair. LA was frankly a LOT better at RSL at managing to poke/head/chest balls to their team-mates and maintain control. They passed on the shitty surface (and above it) better than our side did and they were the better team in the second half of the miserable disjunct (play, officiating) second half. Lest I sound too full of love for LA, that's the ugliest most cynical soccer I've ever seen from them. Constant diving from Friend and Dunivant. Lucky Charm shrieking from Robbie, and their own series of hacks after hacks. Friend belongs in San Jose with the rest of the Douche wagon. Seriously. Just trade him to the Quakes already. I do think Sabo's shot at Delagarza was dirty. I would not be surprised to see a suspension. Coach: Not his best. We were 10 men for a long time and the goal came during that period. Surprised Javi wasn't subbed (he was a ghost down the stretch), surprised we didn't use a second sub until after the 60's, surprised we didn't use our final sub with LA also tired. Surprised the team ran out of gas so visibly.
How can you mix Gauls and Romans and Carthaginians with a Caesar like prefix? The latter - in particular - is an abomination. Carthago delenda est
I have no idea what any of that means, so you can Cassar/kiss my *** . . . Or something about taking one in the kisser/Cassar. . . I mean, can we PLEASE dumb it down a bit?
'cuz I'm throwing a Macedonian in there to make up for the fact that I couldn't think of the name of an Assyrian.
I don't really have anything to add to this thread, but wanted the 4 most recent posts in the forum to be from me...so how about our outside backs? Is there a position on the field that instills people with less confidence for this team? I mean, Wingert and Beltran are serviceable, I suppose, but they're not exactly difference makers. Except for counter-attacking opponents.
