so just dropping in to spread a few rumors.. pretty decent source said Alvarez has not signed with RSL rather just took himself out of the supplemental draft to control his next move. offers so far from Seattle (match RSL current pay) DC United(not sure offer) and Chris Brown has offered him a spot in Chicago (match RSL current pay) but it sounds like Orlando is trying to get him on a multi year deal, pay him to play in a lower division for a year (same as current RSL pay) but promising what sounds like a possible 100k contract for their inaugural season.
Not really. Yordany would need to go through the phase 2 draft and then can be re-signed at a lower amount. If there was so much clamoring for him at full price, why didn't they take him during phase 1? The other option is that RSL signs him taking him off the market and then trades him to one of the teams mentioned.
So we've finished four days with that depressing quartet of stories on the realsaltlake.com website. C'mon gang!
Since Alvarez dropped out of the Re-Entry draft, he now will remain tied to RSL but possibly without a contract. If its true that Seattle, DC or Chicago want to offer him a contract, then they would have to trade with RSL to get rights to him. If he has gone through the RED then he could have either signed with a new team at his current wage or (if Stage 2 pick) would have negotiated with the new team. If no one picked him after Stage 2 then he would essentially be a free agent within MLS. So basically, yes Seattle, DC or Chicago can sign him, but it seems it would have been far easier if he just would have stayed in the RED. As for Orlando, since they are still essentially a outsider team, they would have to buy his contract from RSL and MLS. Its possible that RSL would just let him go, but since Orlando City is coming into MLS in 2015, the league or the club might play a little harder game. Odd situation. I've been wondering if Heath was going to try to get Alvarez back. It will be interesting to see where this goes.
If Alvarez is out of contract with RSL, he should be able sign with Orlando without permission from MLS or RSL. All of the "rights retaining" is only relevant to moves within the league. I agree with you on getting offers at his current salary, though. If that were true he would already have been taken in stage 1.
As much as I'd like a blizzard to swarm through and clear the gunk out of the Valley, so too would I like a storm to sweep through the Club and bring in some fresh air... Can't hold my breath any longer.
Amen to this. And let's start with that terrible lineup of stories on realsaltlake.com, now in its FIFTH crappy day.
I think this is true. But what about next year? When Orlando enters the league next year, wouldn't RSL still hold his MLS rights? When a player goes overseas the team that last held his rights has first shot at the guy, wouldn't it work the same way for guys in a different league in the States?
Man, I keep checking every day for some positive news. This is horrible. I hope once the coach is signed we get a land slide of good news, but I know this won't be true. ; ;
Five yellow frownies. (I was going to put ponies, but Prime has requested that stay in the Embratsu thread)
Four national team players. (need a better one - I just didn't want to skip to get to three) Three missed trophies.
Lol, you guys crack me up with this one. But seriously this is getting depressing, get the new coach dammit.
That's a good question. I think RSL would probably (?) retain his rights. I guess I was just pointing out that RSL's right to his contract only pertain to playing in MLS -- not any other league in any country, including the US.
