Two things happened to Sebastian. 1) He bought a car last night and it was broken into this morning. 2) He twisted his ankle in practice and was hobbling around pretty good.
Guess that means we'll see Mr. Steele with the start. Unless Javi starts, then Gil will probably just slide over...
when it rains, it pours. Looked like it didn't phase the kid too much (see abc 4 video) so he should be able to still be on the bench or maybe even in the XI. I'd personally rather see Javi get a start and have Steele/Velasquez sub on late for him.
Two RSL AZ Academy players called into U18 Camp Jordan Allen and Benjamin Lopez are in the mix. RSL is one of five MLS teams with two players from their academy in the mix - NYRB, Philly, Chivas, and Galaxy are the others.
I reviewed the game in detail in the game thread. Briefly, we owned the first half, but couldn't score. We were flat the second half and Chivas took advantage, but it took a particularly bad keeper/defender error to give them a goal. Still, they were knocking at the door a lot, no surprise they slipped one by. In the graph one thing catches my eye, there are a lot of ways to start 3 games into the season (OK, I guess there are exactly 27). RSL has started to the 3rd game differently each season. This is the second time we've been at 6 points after 3 games. The last was the championship season, 2009. That was not an awesome season, championship aside. Enjoy!
looks like RSL had the 3rd largest attendance in MLS this last week behind Seattle & NY. according to wiki it's the #5 most attended match at the RioT
Don Garber. How else can he convince everyone that NY needs another team if there's greater supply than demand with only one NY team? It's cool, Don...oil speculators do it too.
seriously, their entire upper deck was empty for the most part. highly inflated numbers at red bull arena.
So, how awesome is this scarf? I think I'm gonna have to take advantage of this deal and give the voucher to a friend.
If I wasn't completely "scarfed" out, this would be a cool scarf. I'm kind of sick and tired of them. I have like 15 of them, and have never paid for a single one. I might be in the minority on this one.
You could always improvise and send your extra scarves to this guy. I'm sure he'd make great use of them. (Warning: Link is disreputable and potentially offensive (Howard Stern)). http://www.oofah.net/assnapkined/
Ummmm....we have 2 DPs? http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/sports/53819085-77/players-designated-league-teams.html.csp?page=1
Ya, a bit misleading. They do explain Sabo's buyout pushing him over and that his salary alone isn't DP level. Just because the players union reports Morales' income as over 400,000 doesn't mean we know what actually counts against the cap (you'd be hard pressed to find the 5 people in the world that know what counts against the cap) and from what I understand he is NOT a DP. At first I was wondering why they would post the DP rules in the paper (these have been around a few years doesn't everyone already know them?), but realized not everyone is such a soccer nerd and the DP rule is unique to MLS when compared to other sports in the US.
I think I remember someone on here saying that if your salary is above the mark, then you are a DP. As in you don't get a choice. But this is just my crappy memory talking so I might be wrong.
So, he's listed here as a DP http://pressbox.mlssoccer.com/conte...ayers#overlay-context=content/media-resources But below, in the descriptions of the DPs on the different teams, there's no mention of him.
RSL's DP's(less than $800,000) don't put them "on par" with teams like the the Galaxy($12,217,243) and Red Bulls($10,200,000) The author I think doesn't quite get it.
Mike Lewis spends more time with RSL than anyone who isn't on the team...I'm pretty sure he "gets it."
Did anyone else catch Jason on 1320 yesterday? The world most be coming to an end... It is turning out to be a possitive thing to have Spencer convert to the dark side and join those a-holes. I thought they did a great interview.
I didn't hear it but I would still wait to reserve judgement to see if this is a fluke or trend. The thought of 1320 gaining anything from Spence moving turns my stomach. I will continue to support ESPN700 the On Frame podcast and then 1280 before I give those sanctimonious fake radio laughers any love. David Locke can go jump in a lake for all I care. That guy is a douche and makes Dunseth, who I like but can improve, sound like Vin Scully on the air. Dave has to be the worst play by play man in the NBA hands down. I'm glad RSL is getting more local air time but coming at the benefit of 1320 I still find it uncomfortable.
I thought Spence's co-host saying that he's still a bit of a soccer novice and just starting to learn the game. RSL's been around for eight years, quit wasting your time. SLC is a soccer market. Learn it.
