1 December Basel - FCSG FC Luzern - LS 2 December Servette - FC Thun (I will be at this one) YB - FC Sion GCZ- FCZ Some very intriguing matches. Servette could find itself only 4 points behind three teams at the break if FCZ, Thun and FC Luzern all loose. GCZ could put a 4 point gap at the top over FCSG if Sion and Basel win along with a GCZ win.
Basel - FCSG: http://www.videoportal.sf.tv/video?id=b6d34eb1-e830-4dae-a397-e792ebc20792;DCSext.zugang=sfsport FCSG had enough oppourtunities, but could not convert. Luzern - LS: http://www.videoportal.sf.tv/video?id=74a649f6-3225-4867-989d-fd52c6d93a7a;DCSext.zugang=sfsport
Servette - Thun 0-0 YB - Sion 3-1 while being a man down from a very weak, but understandable red card. GCZ- FCZ 1-0. So at the break we have the following: GCZ 37 FC Basel 33 FCSG 33 FC Sion 32 YB 24 LS 21 FC Luzern 18 FC Thun 18 FCZ 17 Servette 11
Hi, all. Just wanted to know what your opinion on Basle's Chilean international Marcelo Díaz was. It seems to me he has not cemented a starting spot? What do you guys think? Thanks in advance for any info.
Results from some Friendly matches: GCZ - Wil 4-1 Twente - LS 2-0 Luzern - WIl 6-2 Schaffhausen - Zurich 3-2 Today's matches Thun - Biel Basel - Bayern Munich
9 Feb Servette - GCZ YB - Luzern 10 Feb FCZ - LS FCSG - Thun Basel - Sion Two huge matches this weekend. The Basel/Sion match should be a good one. Servette needs to get off to a good start if they want to avoid relegation.
Hey, guys. Could one of you guys tell me why Marcelo Díaz is not a regular for FC Basel? Is this a result of a loss of form, or maybe due to an injury? The new NT coach called him for the recent friendly vs. Egypt: came on in the 2nd half and was one of Chile's better players. Thanks in advance for any info.
Good question. I am not sure right now. I know that with the transition to M. Yakin there have been some personal changes. In addition over the break Basel brought in two starters, on from FC Sion and the other from YB Bern.
FC Basel - FC Sion 3-0 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/fc-basel-schlaegt-sion-klar Basel with three well taken goals defeats FC Sion. YB- FC Luzern 3-2 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/yb-dank-nuzzolo-mit-last-minute-sieg Constanzo with two goals and Nuzzolo with a goal to seal the win for YB Servette - GCZ 0-1 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/joker-brahimi-schiesst-gc-ins-glueck Servette was determined to keep its shape during the match, and did for the most part. GCZ wins 0-1 to put Servette in an even more difficult spot. Verljub Salatic will be out for about 6 weeks with an injury. FCZ - LS 2-0 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/zuerich-bricht-den-heimspiel-bann FCZ helps themselves as they win at home over LS. This puts a greater distance between them and Servette. FCSG - Thun was postponed due to snow.

Streller was hurt, but not too badly. FC Luzern - FCZ 1-1 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/kein-sieger-zwischen-luzern-und-zuerich My german is really poor, but do they say why Zibung came out of the game? The PK was the fault of his replacement. Thun - Servette 1-1 http://www.srf.ch/sport/fussball/super-league/herrlicher-treffer-knickt-genfer-hoffnungen Servette with some good attacking including a 2nd goal that was ruled offside. Late defensive breakdown, and a great strike by Steffen denied Servette the three points that they desperatly needed. With so many draws, the bottom of the table remains the same. There is some change at the top though. GCZ - 43 FC Basel - 39 Fc Sion - 35 FCSG - 33 YB - 27 FCZ - 21 LS - 21 Fc Thun - 19 FC Luzern - 19 Servette - 12
Things are not looking good for Servette. The only good thing is that FCZ, LS, Thun, and Luzern have all failed to win as well this spring. With 16 matches left, Servette needs around 20 points to survive. That means 1.25 per match.
Two articles about the SL from foreign press. The first is from BBC Scotland as Scotland is looking to go to a system like Switzerland used to have. Interesting read: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/scotland/21313900 The second is about El-Neny and his transition at Basel. http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsCon...d’s-snowy-conditions-pose-toughest-chall.aspx
23 Feb Servette - LS FCZ - YB 24 Feb FCSG - Luzern Thun - Sion Basel - GCZ Servette needs to get a win in this Leman derby. If not, survival will be very difficult to attain. Eudis will not play due to injury. De Azevedo is out due to suspension as well. Omar Kossoko will be able to play in this match. The Basel - GCZ match should be a very good one. GCZ could catch Basel a little tired after making the long trek to eastern Ukraine. As a Servette fan, this would be my perfect weekend. Servette win, FCZ loss, Luzern loss, Thun Loss.
23 Feb Servette - LS 1-0 for Servette. A goal in the 83rd wins it for Servette. If some more moves go their way, there might be some hope. This is the 3rd loss for LS since the break. While Servette has gone 1-1-1. FCZ - YB 4-0 destruction of YB by FCZ. 4 different goalscorers for FCZ.
24 Feb FCSG - Luzern 4-0 A big surprise here, not the victory, but the margin of victory. Thun - Sion 4-0 Thun responds to the Servette win with an emphatic crushing of Sion, who is starting to see its chances of a League Championship go away. Basel - GCZ 0-0 Great result for GCZ. Taking a point from FC Basel at St. Jakobs is a very good thing. GCZ - 44 FC Basel - 40 FCSG - 36 * FC Sion - 35 YB - 27 FC Zurich - 24 FC Thun - 22 * LS - 21 FC Luzern - 19 Servette - 15 * - 1 match in hand.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/soccer-sion-fire-fourth-coach-season-gattuso-takes-152433631--sow.html "FC Sion fired Victor Munoz after four matches on Monday, making him the fourth coaching victim of the season at the volatile Swiss club, and named former AC Milan and Italy midfielder Gennaro Gattuso as player-coach."

As an aside, the two year old idea to have Evian-Thonnan-Gaillard play its home matches at the Stade de Geneve is over. UEFA President Platini has stated that this will not happen. He will not allow "home" matches of a member of UEFA to be played outside of the country. I think this decision is one not about ETG, but about some of the big clubs playing "home" matches in China, Japan, etc.
2 March Luzern-Thun FCZ - Sion 3 March Servette - Basel YB - FCSG LS-GCZ An ideal week for Servette would be a Thun and FCZ loss with a LS loss as well. GCZ fans should be rooting for Servette this weekend.
