I always thought he had something going on behind the scenes with Riker. I do, however, enjoy Patrick Stewart's appearances in American Dad. *man, this discussion has gone off topic
Confirmed (sort of): Checketts has sold his ownership stake to Hansen. Hansen now sole owner of RSL. http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/sports/55693417-77/checketts-hansen-stadium-team.html.csp
They are selling the team to NewYork Owners who will move the team to Queens. Real Salt Lake becomes a USL-Pro team.
Yeah. Me too. How much say has Hansen had in team management up to this point? Wasn't he instrumental in paying Saborio's transfer fee, or something?
You should feel bittersweet. Checketts was a hell of an owner and a terrific person, but Hansen has deeper pockets. Seems like that's what it's going to take to compete in MLS in the future.
This doesn't make sense to me. Checketts is on the verge of beginning the 2nd stage of his stadium dream, and he sells out? Is the new CEO position he took on with Legends going to take up too much of his time? Will Hansen have better success at completing the 2nd stage than Checketts would? Is this move required to get RSL to the next level? So many questions to answer.
so this just builds on to my initial assumption, deeper pockets equals bigger signings equals Falcao. I am on my way now to set up my seats and blanket for his welcoming parade
I didn't realize that he'd sold the Blues recently, too. Maybe he's done with owning (and trying to own) sports teams.
Deeper pockets coming in + signing of new DP striker all in the same press conference! A fan can hope, right? I mean, I have 40 more minutes to build up my unrealistic expectations.. Must put them to good use..
40 minutes for me to fantasize about them announcing Cristiano Ronaldo coming to RSL. Sigh. On a side note, I hear he's a pretty good footballer.
He's in it for the food. Seriously. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/...t-Real-Salt-Lake-2-and-cacciatore.html?pg=all I've met him on a few occasions. Super nice guy, definitely a family guy. He bought RSL because it was family fun. I've got no problem with that motive. I just hope he leaves team management to run the team.
Both. He footed the bill to charter the plane down south during the CCL last year, IIRC. Seems like a pretty competitive guy. I also remember FM posting stuff on him getting into shouting matches at the Capital, so I expect he has the same passion with the team. Question is, will we see him get into shouting matches with the players on the bench, a la LHM?
