You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Joao Plata rumoured to RSL? Fits the 'forward' line, even if Plata is a winger more than a forward

What's the over/under on the account being setup by some dude in his basement hoping to get all kinds of cleavage shots emailed to him? For that case, how do we know it's not IBIK?

@MLSTransfers is tweeting that the announcement is for a new player, new stadium name, and new kit sponsor. I don't know if I believe the sponsors, seeing how the new jerseys have Xango's new logo. However, my bet is this will be a big announcement with the guv-na, mayor, and Don attending. Hopefully they plan extra time for the commute.

New stadium name? That was a 10-year deal.

I have no idea what kind of announcement gets the mayor, governor and commissioner to attend, though. Makes it sound like a pretty big freaking deal. It's also an MLS announcement, too?

I'm setting myself up to be disappointed. I just need to know how disappointed I should be.

I doubt it's for any of those reasons, and RSL has gone completely radio silent on the issue. I'm guessing it's some kind of change in the ownership structure.

Agreed. What if USANA, America First, Zions Bank, or any other local business takes over? The FO will be scrambling to fix the lyrics, unless if the RioT has officially become the stadium nickname, regardless of the sponsor.

"Here at the USANA..." just doesn't have the same ring to it (not to mention it throws the meter off).

Just drop the article, and it fits nicely.

    Nicely being a relative term.

Any chance they are planing to expand the stadium? Giant air filters so our players can breath in all this haze?

When we built the stadium, we discussed expansion. If I remember right, the current design won't work for expansion. The south end could be permanently attached and possibly expanded upwards, but the north end wasn't structurally built to expand. They would have to tear out the plaza/concourse in order to pour footings to support the structural steel. If they did that, then they could potentially wrap the upper deck all the way around to the west end. But this would also get rid of one of the main architectural features of the stadium: being able to see the game while buying concessions. That was one of the architect's main focuses on the design. That and the angle on the top of the field wall: steep enough that people can't rest their beers on it, but not too steep. I swear I built 5-6 mock-ups of that stupid wall...

The Don is on a 13-city tour touting all of the Gold Cup host venues.
Prepare to be underwhelmed by the "announcement."
