Btw, the left hand defence klinsi is expected to start looks like this. --------williams--- --fabian---boca-- ------------howard----- We cant really move fab right because Chandler has to play there and get capped
On the one hand, they might have finished those chances, but on the other hand, they might not have been in position to have them in the first place.
great in this case means *taking our first real left back (Fab) in two decades and making in play on the right *Putting a very versatile Cameron in his least strong position *Sitting our hottest forward in favor of two players who have not played league soccer in months Brilliant
Fabian is as good on the right (maybe better defensively) than the left. He is an offensive minded fb so I put him behind Zusi whereas the defensive monster cameron would play behind EJ who will be more offensive. As for the forwards, i was giving my starting lineup, not who would play the whole game. The weather will be in the nineties. Suppose you start Dempsey, gomez and Jozy - who comes in when they are dying of heat exhaustion? But tks for the compliment.
Meh, who is Michael distributing to in this formation? Why not go with 3 up top and have Dempsey and Herc check back as needed. It's basically the same thing, but it gives Bradley more options. Personally, I would go with this. You got Herc false 9ing, creating space in the box for dempsey to crash into. You have width in Zusi. You have a true dm in either Williams or Edu and you have Bradley, who can move forward or backwards as needed. Bradley is a good tempo setter and will allow time for FJ to get forward, without much risk of getting exposed on the turnover since Bradley rarely makes an errant pass. The other option is to go with Jones in the Zusi role and bring on Zusi if we need a goal.
Thanks Dr. Einstein. If you read what I wrote, you will see that I recognize that now is the time where every result is critical. I personally think that JK should have taken more risks and focused more long-term, including favoring Altidore over Herculez at some points before the point we are now.
Probably wise not to rely much (or at all) on a league that's been on a break for 60+ days. Yet that XI has 7 former MLS'ers, so that's something, (+ 4 Germans). Also will be interesting to count the MLS'ers in Honduras's XI.
Don't you think this is a little irrational? Am I forgetting the game where he put out a midfield essentially consisting of 4 DMs? If so, please remind me... It's going to be 4-3-3, I'd be shocked if it weren't.
I agree it's unlikely, but we had Edu, Beckerman, and Jones all start before when Bradley wasn't healthy and Bradley and Jones aren't D mids in Klinnsman's eyes. It's not impossible.
Which match was that? So at worst that's a pretty crowded/defensive 4-3-3. I don't think there's an example, I don't think it's possible, to get all 4 out onto the pitch together.
It will be a 4-4-1-1. -------------------------------Howard----------------------------- -Chandler---Cameron------------------Bocanegra---Johnson- ----------Williams----------Edu---------Jones-------------- -------------------------------Bradley----------------------------- -------------------Dempsey------------------------------------ ------------------------------Gomez-------------------------------
In Jamaica. I imagine it would be a midfield diamond... ----Bradley---- Jones---Williams ------Edu------ I don't find it likely; I think It will be Bradley, Jones, and Edu/Williams with three more attacking players. I'm still worried he will come out like that for a tie though.
Hard to know. But I could see all of Edu, Williams and Jones all starting with Bradley. But I'd suspect it is more likely that one of those first three won't be in the XI but someone like EJ or Zusi (or even Davis) could grab a starting spot (if all three of Dempsey, Gomez and Altidore don't start up front to limit the US to only three midfielders).
Jones, Bradley and either Edu or Williams will all start. But not all four. The only question is whether JK goes with a wide midfielder (Zusi, or even Castillo) or uses Gomez or EJ to provide that option from a higher position. I think JK loves Gomez, but wants Jozy on the field, and if both play, then his lineup sort of writes itself: -----Howard TC -- Cam -- Boca --FJ ------------Edu----------- ------Jones ----Bradley -Gomez----Dempsey ------------Jozy
The lineup is incredibly ballsy. I actually like it. My only question is Eddie Johnson, but I'm not fully against him; just unsure.
Haha, should have been a "not" in front of optimistic. I was drinking heavily! JK has got to stop playing Bradley with two other DM. Does not work. Want to see Jozy and Herc.
I disagree. I actually think it was working. He needs, however, not to play Bradley when he plays that badly. He was really slow and out of it - too much travel and too many games. We were MUCH better before the Zusi and Sasha subs - which is not the same as saying we were great or even good, but that opening line-up was the line-up to steal points except, in hindsight, the CD pairing. I've argued against Boca but I was wrong - we needed his leadership in there, esp without LD or Dolo. But that clogged, compact line-up in that heat could have easily held on for the tie or even pipped a winner. Bradley should have gone off, and Jones stayed on - neither was great, but Jones just looked more awake. Fabio and Chandler have to say home more. That game was a big JK mis-read.
