Like I've said before, his stepovers look like a duck flapping his feet.

    That's what I mean, folks!...

It's not enough do all those tricks & a few more!...

You gotta do them with elegance.

Most malabarists of today lack the smoothness & elegance of the touch of a Rivelino, a Beckembauer, a Charlton, a Didi, a Gérson, a Best, a Pelé & more recently a Maradona & a Zico.

(There are exceptions of course, but are exceptions) ...

The players you mentioned are all exceptions. But I'm beating a dead horse so to speak...

Yeah, exceptions among a great number of'exceptions.

Todays exceptions are the ONLY ones in a sea of crippled guys (specially in Europe).

BTW: If you were 'beating a dead horse' you wouldn't need to announce it..

    Sorry, BH,

People in the rest of the world might look into that & copy but not in Brazil.

That's about as simple a dummy as one can conceive though in the homeland of dribbling.

Ronaldo might even have copied it from his childhood mates.

New dummies are invented at every minute in this country since football was introduced in the late 1800s in Brazil.

To have seen in that trick something out of this world simply denounces lack of intimacy with the football of your country.;)

I hope you represent a good number of Brazilians LOL

In fact many great players were idolized by Ronaldo and tried to copycat his style:
    - Inside Brazil: Roanldinho, Kaka, Adriano, Robinho and lately Pato
    - rest of world: C.Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic, Benzama, Eduardo, Rooney ...

however, none of them was close:
    - Ronaldinho, Robinho, Ibra, Benzama , Eduardo ... have good footwork skills but lack of speed
    - Kaka, C.Ronaldo, Adriano have good speed, but lack of either agility (Adriano/kaka) OR decisive move (CRonaldo) of Ronaldo!

Ronaldo is still among TOP10 best dribblers of the world, if not TOP5 (IMO)

King Kong completely misses the realization that the main reason players dont dribble today is because the standard of the game has risen leading to an equilibrium between attack and defense, making sure that only the very few exceptional players are really able to dribble at will. Best example is - as fitness rises, defenders make much fewer mistakes, making it harder for attackers to do what they do.

That's true for Brazilian players as well as anyone else, if football has great dribblers, great defenders will also be developed restoring the equilbrium, ensuring that the players' dribbling skills will be mainly used to possess the ball and utilize more sophisticated passing systems, rather than doing tricks and dribbling through players.

Agreed. The game has changed....Ronaldo was leagues above most defenses...he was dominating professional defenders at his time...But nowadays it's not that simple. C Ronaldo still does it every now and then in the Spanish league (blow by the entire defense) and so does Messi but it's definitely not as common as it used to be.

Thats the reason why players like Cesc Fabregas are appreciated nowadays. Because of the different dynamic they bring to the game.

Denilson was just a joker type. He did great and gave a big hope to football in 1997 at Sao Paolo and then confed 1997. At WC98, he did not do much. After got the label as the most expensive player (98) he was like disappeared!

He was once showing us he has talent in dribbling and that was IT - Scolari made the best use of his talent at WC2002: to buy off time at the end toward winning the game ;)

Im agree, the level on the top is very high nowadays..I've just watched AC Milan-Real Madrid and you hardly see someone dribbling several defenders...
Its just a different game than many years ago...
