I had no idea he was so important for them.

Other than Espinoza, who are the star men for Honduras? Palacios? Young Najar?

With all due respect, I think this kind of discussion is better suited for the Freddy Adu or Brek Shea threads. ;)

Wigan is in the promotion playoffs - May, 9th vs. QPR.

Roger has mostly been a bench player/spot starter for Uwe Rösler.

Wigan would have won under the "goals away" system but went down in the extra time 2:1. I watched about the last hour of regular time. Roger was OK but nothing special. QPR allowed an early goal to the ex-Newcastle RB James Perch but then dominated the proceedings afterwards. Niko Kranjcar was the best player for me until he ran out of gas sometime in the middle of the second half. Then Junior Hoilett took over on QPR's right / Wigan's left, where Espinoza played.

The pace of the game was crazy. The overall level of both teams is considerably superior to MLS. Most QPR and Wigan players are of the recent EPL vintage.

Starting in the WORLD CUP against France. A long journey but he's made it.

It's a pretty long flight from Wigan.

Apparently, Espinoza was given extra time off post-WC and isn't joining the first team yet.

Espinoza looks like he could be the next player to return to MLS. KC still hold his MLS rights and are interested, but don't pay a fee (Espinoza is out of contract this summer)

Interested? I think they're desperate for some defensive coverage.

So, another MLS player who washed out of the Championship?

12 total minutes on the pitch in the 2014-15 season for a club in 19th place.

Let us ignore the fact though that he played the majority of the games for them last year

International Football is a 'what have you done for me lately' sport.
But I played the majority of the games last year......So.......

Injuries? Lost form or morale due to the World Cup perhaps? He def seems to be good enough for the Championship

Whatever might be happening in England, it seems to me that a healthy and in-form Espinoza would be an automatic starter for most if not all MLS teams. He might have made JK's 30 if he were available. He's on the right side of 30 and a great fit for the league. Of course, he's also shown he can play at a higher level; this year's Honduras team, frankly, couldn't put 11 World Cup quality players on the field, but that wasn't his fault.

He looked great in the 2012 Olympics.

He'd be a starter on pretty much any MLS team. Another quality player coming (back) to the league

So, it means he is/was good enough for the Championship and good enough to start on a FA Cup winning team as welling as contributing in the Premier League. So, why is he no longer good enough?

Well it could be that two years in England have degraded his skills or that his style doesn't fit the current coach's approach. Or, what a shock, the coach and Espinoza could actually be telling the truth and Espinoza just doesn't want to play in England any more, which is why his performance has dropped recently.

Exactly. He played a lot last year and not a lot this year. New circumstances no matter what they are has been determined that he is not good enough to play this year. It happens to thousands of players. You play a lot then you don't. Or the reverse, you don't play a lot then you beat someone else out for playing time. Its constant competition.
