I'm proud to have taken that picture. I went up to them and asked for the picture then said, "So you're the enemy next year, right?" At least one of them laughed. When we got home, we discovered that the one who didn't laugh didn't sign the poster. Coincidence? (I'm bad w/ names, so you'll have to excuse my lack of brain cells here...)
Was it Peguero? He seemed like a really nice guy. I used my very limited knowledge of kreyol and he quietly responded to me. I'm not so sure if he speaks much English though. So it very well could be that he didn't understand the question. I found both of them very nice and friendly, not too easy to hate.

Joe told me at the signing table at the rally that he's not so sure he won't be playing for RSL!!! Seriously! He said the Denver area is over-rated and that he has family from Salt Lake - in fact, his cousin was a Mormon missionary! (ok, ok, so I'm lying about the playing for RSL, Denver being over-rated, him having family from Utah, and the Mormon missionary part... but everything else is 100% true)

Actually your assumption might be incorrect as only about 10% of haitians speak french. I speak french and tried to speak to him but he didn't really respond. However, Joe Cannon speaks really well. Apparently he picked up quite a bit when he played in the french league.
i grew up in denver. depending on what you do, it can be a good or bad place to work. There are not a lot of high tech jobs available there. I am an experienced computer programmer and spent 2 years looking for a real job while working at blockbuster video to make ends meet. I finally found a job... in Minneapolis. I was so desperate for work that I would move to a freezing hell like Minnesota. That being said, i don't think Utah will be much better. SLC is a smaller city so jobs can be even more scarce. If you want to move somewhere that is moving up in jobs, Orange County california might be a safe bet. I get offers for jobs down there all the time. If I hadn't found the job I am working at right now (a very good and laid back place) then I would go there in a second.
I lived in San Diego, CA then Anaheim Hills, CA (Orange County) before moving to Salt Lake... Yes, there are definitely more jobs that are higher paying there but you will struggle to have much to show for it. My 2,000 sq. ft. home in Anaheim Hills, CA I sold in 2000 for $400,000... now sells for $650,000... (yes, you can pick your nuts up now) You ALSO have to pay property taxes between 1% to 1.5% depending on whether or not you get stuck with Melo-Roos (sp?) taxes... oh yeah, and many communities have home-owner's assocations that are costly. I loved SoCal - I could see all the way to Pasadena on a clear day from my backyard and wore shorts/T-shirt virtually 365 days a year, BUT the big BUT is $$$ Utah is even much less expensive than Denver - so at least it has that.
Slightly more on topic, I am kinda of hoping Rapids win the MLS Cup, so that they can be the team we play on Opening Day. Of course RSL will kick the crap out of the Rapids and make them look bad. Hey it might happen. According to Rob Stone of ESPN, we are getting Kasey Keller and Clint Mathis.
You can have Mathis, do you remember how he plays? And Cannon is better than Keller, you can have him too. I'm glad you already think you'll beat teams that actually have players. Come back when you have a roster.
First off, Cannon is in no way better than Keller. Where have you been? Lets see Keller is USMNT GK #1 and where is Cannon, oh thats right, barely even thought of as #5. Besides, I didn't say Keller was coming to RSL, Stone did. Second, I didn't think it would be so easy to get Rapids fans upset. I think this coming year rivarly will be great!
Keller is the second choice keeper at Tottenham sitting on the bench and Cannon is playing day in and out. As for who Bruce decides to call up you don't want to pick that fight. Is Johhny Walker a better keeper than Cannon? No. Is JW up for MLS MVP? No. Why does he keep getting called into Nat Camp? Who knows. Cannon is not on Bruce's special friends list or something but he is obviously the best keeper in MLS and should be getting the call to the Nats. John Busch has played better than Walker this season yet he doesn't get called up. Will Keller be up for the award next season in SLC? No. You haven't been around long enough to judge how Rapids fans react.
I am feeling some angst for Cannon not getting called up. Maybe you should seek a professional? I am just kidding. Actually this is my new nick, I 've been around a little longer than this month. Cannon has played great this year, Walker has too, but not as well. Bruce must see something in him. You think Bruce has something agaist Joe? Still, look forward to a rivalry between the Cra..I mean Rapids and RSL. Aren't you?
He might, I'm not sure. Joe has been called into camp in the past. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the next round of qualifying, after Keller retires from international soccer and his 35th b-day. Yeah, I'm ReALLY excited. Stupid name.
