Yet again the Galaxy lose another road game, by the same score 1-0. Of course there is that little fact that Naldo scored a goal, how about that, but Donovan was offside. I think this is evidence that A) Donovan isn't going to bring his A game away from the HDC, B) We need some help uptop asap, a quality striker to replace, and at the expense of both Naldo and Kirovski. I think Steve has got to get gutsy and bench Donovan, and other starters in exchange for some reserve players, who would actually break a sweat to win the game. Hopefully he would attempt to do this on wednesday against SL, at least if we lose it won't be because LA is lazy. I doubt LA will win in Salt Lake, but I have this damned feeling that our losing streak on the road will end next Saturday against SJ when Donovan is at the center of attention, nationally.
I couldn't watch the game, but the box score makes it look like a good performance. However, it's always true the commentators and fans must realize they cannot compare the Galaxy to other teams unless the number of home and away games are equal.
I already knew the score, but please in the future don't put titles implying the game's result. I understand this wasn't televised, but just a reminder for the future. No worries, though because I'm sure nobody cares. Hopefully we can get those elusive 3 points on the road against RSL or the Smurfettes...
Thanks for the suggestion, and the reminder. Now please go away. BTW, a Dallas poster, whom I assume was the fan at the game, said that Naldo didn't score but crossed the ball to Donovan who scored. But frankly, at this point, as much of a waste that I think Naldo is, if he can score, I would offer him my first-born child. Anyone? please score. please.
Are you serious? the goats scored on you 3 times during the first game they played there. What makes you think donovan wont score on your team?
This is just downright pathetic. The loss to Colorado was truly an embarassment. Then comes the Dullas game, which I knew might be a little tough, but again we're the loosers. I know the guys are tired, especially Donovan but that's not enough of an excuse anymore. We have a nearly new team and I really believed the road game curse would be a thing of the past. From what I heard of the game yesterday we didn't do as badly as in Colorado but unfortunatly that mistake from Marshall cost us the game. That and for some reason the travelling forcefield surrounding the net just won't give us a break. I'm angry, frustrated and feel let down. Really thought this would be our year but against all hope I fear we will again sit out of the cup game. Is this road curse something in their heads, which has leached into the new players heads as well, or do they collectively leave all their skills in some jar at HDC and that that jar is opposed to travelling. I'm sure that anyone one of us could probably do better than some of these guys have. If anything we'd provide some "entertaining" soccer which douche promised. Could it be that they really need some fans at these away games to provide some moral support. I truly think that the FO should consider hiring some buses for the games we have left in say, Salt Lake, Colorado, San Jo and see what happens. What's a few dollars compared to team pride and wins on the road. Ok, enough of my rambling. I'm gonna take something for the pain they've inflicted and hope to be coherent for Wed's game.
What makes me feel better is Chivas' loss 3-1 against the CRAPids at our home... in front of a weak 10,000 person crowd.
Yeah...I would. I think we can definitely beat you guys. Not only that, but Norwich is out of top-flight football and the San Josers will be leaving soon. Something tells me you'll be adopting new teams. Say...THE LOS ANGELES GALAXY, for instance...?
what this team really needs to do, imo, is sit down and realize that they are just not that good. the galaxy through the first 10 years of MLS have proven to be, by one measure, the most successful team in MLS history ( d.c. united can also lay legitimate claim to this title). there have been some off patches, notable the early part of 97 and 99, but as a team the galaxy have been pretty consistent. always making the playoffs, going to 6 cup finals and winning 3 of them, winning the supporters shield twice and the western conference title 4 times. the team has been slipping though, well that and the rest of the league got a lot better. while teams like new england, d.c., san jose, chicago and even new york were busy building teams la has been busy acquiring players almost regardless of whether they fit or not. just look at the team we've got this year: 2 withdrawn forward/attacking midfielders playing as out and out strikers; an central attacking midfielder playing on the wing; no real strikers to speak of; about a dozen defenders. it's just a mess. perhaps when gordon and ngwenya are healthy they can pair up front, but neither have proven to be dependable forwards in MLS yet. we're a lot like real madrid this season, a load of good players, but no semblance of a team. until the front office, management and players accept that the galaxy as a team just aren't that good a team, our road woes will continue.
How are you counting Cup Finals? LA has been to 4 finals and won 1. San Jose has been to 2 and won 2. DC United has been to 5 and won 4.
the team is outright pathetic. there is no excuse for being so damn bad on the road, none whatsoever.
The current tally of away game victories stands at 3...I believe...since the beginning of the 2003 season (over two years ago). Chivas games at HDC don't count...at least not yet. I hit the panic button in our first away loss this season, basing my anxiety on what I've seen and witnessed in the past and our record. Yet still folks mumbled stuff about "if only this and if only that..." or "if we play like that we'll win next time..." or "That's how it goes sometimes..." It's the same attitude that players and coaching staff take...and we see the results. Three wins in 2+ seasons. That is unnacceptable. In my opinion, this away game problem needs to be recognized by the Galaxy organization and fans alike as a cancer that must be excised at all cost. Sounds like common sense...but listening to players, coaches, and fans...it's not common enough yet. This losing attitude is Galaxy culture now because, despite a large scale revamp of the team, the new players are beginning to fall into the pattern of the loss beaten veterans. Pre-season 2006, the Galaxy need to craft a schedule whereby they play as many road games as possible and spare no expense at winning those games. I'm convinced that on some sub-conscious level, the Galaxy players go into road games expecting to lose, no matter what they say publicly. Until this mindset changes, we'll continue on the current path. Player / team skill has little to do with it at this point, in my opinion.
Here's how I see it. Three things: 1. At home we play to win. On the road we play not to lose. At home Peter V is always pushing into the attack and the outside backs are making runs into the wings. Not so much on the road. How to fix it? SS needs to urge efenders to attack. If they aren't then pull em out. simple. 2. At home we play on a wide field, on the road-not so wide. Defenses have a hard time "bunkering" on the wide field. Donovan has a goal-frenzy. Not so much on the road. Fix? Play the ball out wide more and pull Donovan back a little. That will open things up. 3. At home we are pumped by fans and family. On the road, we are booed. Fix? teammates need to be supporters (like basketball) and struggling players need to be yanked. Or, LA fans need to be flown out to games, for free of course.
