    I know. :D

This is not about thinking ahead, so don't take this as typical portuguese pessimism. I'm just naturally excited at the prospect of the getting rid of the old crap for something new and explosive. ESPECIALLY a new coach.

To what I know now, this lineup looks good:

    ------------------------------Eduardo----------------------------

    Bosingwa----------Daniel Carriço----Bruno Alves-----Fábio Coentrão

    ------------------------------Pepe-------------------------------

    -------------Manuel Fernandes------Miguel Veloso----------------

    Cristiano Ronaldo-------------Varela--------------------Nani----

    that team is superb.

Just leave out miguel veloso for Sergio Oliveira and thats it.

Maybe Danny will play behind the striker...alot of options.

The team for euro 2012 is going to be really talented(unless its snakebitten like the one heading into the world cup)

Looking too for ahead but I will admit I've also thought about the 2012 team being a pretty damn good one.

...and people are worried about our talent pool, I am hoping and guessing that we will be like France if only we can have the WC and not FU like we did against Greece.

I said a while ago that Liedson is only a short term gap (32 already 33 in Dec.), reallly hoping that Varela and Yannick step up!

Yannick? meh not good enough imho, gets chances time and time again at at sporting and fails, so much so that he was being deployed as a winger later in the season.

Everton just signed Joao Silva from Aves, who scored 14 goals in the liga de honra this past season, lets see how he does.

Sergio Oliveira is a big prospect. He'll definitely be on that team. Why no Vieirinha? He is improving.

Sporting will have some good talent:

    Carrico
    Tiago Pinto
    Pererinha
    Mendes

Atm, we're not witnessing the Carvalho of the old days. He's declining and I'm almost sure he won't be in the lineup in 2012.

As for Gameiro...doubt it. The idiot said too many things to the press and depends of our next coach and of France as well.

Gameiro was genius in France, and honestly, if Portugal wants a young quality striker, he's it.

Vieirinha needs another season to prove himself, he's still young so theres time....great season in Greece winining paok and greek player of the year:D

Daniel Carrico I think will replace Carvalho, he's virtually his clone anyways.

With how talented he is, with even fans in the French forums considering him for their ntl team, it could be the piece of the puzzle that Portugal has lacked for so very long. He turned down an invitation for the u-21 team over a year ago or something(or was it a *b* team match?, but has expressed interest in definatly playing now.

Also Paulo Machado might get a call up, apparently he had a good season at Toulose so you never know.

Go Young! 2012 will be a different team. The generation X and Sergio Oliveiro will be the player to watch out for.

    -------------------------Eduardo---------------------------
    -----------------Carvalho--------Alves---------------------
    Bosingwa-----------------Pepe----------------Coentrao
    -------------------???????---------?????????------------
    Nani-----------------------------------------------Ronaldo
    ----------------------------???????------------------------

would everyone agree with this assumption, during this world cup
we have been overun in midfield option like Pele, Fernandes, Veloso,
    machado need to be explored.

however i would prefer to play 2 D-mid like Brazil and allow the wingbacks more freedom!!!!!

    eg

    -------------------------Eduardo---------------------------
    -----------------Carvalho--------Alves---------------------
    Bosingwa----------Pepe----------Veloso--------Coentrao
    Nani-----------------------Danny-------------------Ronaldo
    ----------------------------Varela---------------------------

Varela should have been on this team. Had a good season. Vieirinha will replace Simao when he retires. Tiago, Deco, Simao all will retire.
