Absolutely ridiculous. First off, you've got Celeborn on their twice. And he didn't do much besides be Galadriel's husband. Arwen didn't do much (in the books), so she shouldn't be on the squad, if you have to have another woman, go with Eowyn. All three Elven ring-bearers must be on there. And there are no Hobbits. And Eomer on the wing? Got to use that size in the middle. Though Celeborn and Treebeard as CBs makes good sense, as does Legolas on the wing. Lastly, no Hobbits? What wonders of free-kicks could be conjured with those feet?

    -----------------Galadriel------------------
    ------Eomer----Treebeard----Elrond----
    -------------------Gimli------------------
    Legolas---------Gandalf(c)-----Aragorn
    -------------------Frodo-----------------
    -----------Faramir-----Eowyn---------

On defense, both Elrond and Galadriel put Vilya and Nenya to good use, as no places were better protected than Rivendell and Lothlorien. Treebreard's size and strength is impossible to contend with, and Eomer's size and ferocity are incredible. Treebeard and Eomer are both devastating threats on set pieces. And, of course, Elrond forges new, special boots for everyone before the match to devastating effect. Galadirel's ability to read everyone's mind and communicate telepathically to her defenders the location of oncoming attackers make her the best GK in history.

In midfield, Gandlaf uses Narya to great effect, inspiring passion and fire in all around him. Legolas and Aragorn put their long legs, great endurance, and swashbuckling natures to great use on the wing in this 3-5-2. And while Gimli isn't fast over long distances, he is very fast over short distances, and uses this ability to break up any dangerous attacks in front of the back three. Frodo's free-kick prowess with his huge, curved, hairy feet is the best on the planet, and if things get really dire, he can disappear and re-appear in attacking spaces all over the field. Wreaking havoc on the defense and the linesman.

I'll go with Faramir and Eowyn up top, the best attacking pair in New Zealand. Faramir has an excellent understanding, both with Gandalf and Frodo, and displays a great tactical mind in attack. Eowyn is especially courageous around the box and is extremely unconventional, often doing the unexpected to flummox the other side.

    GK: Cirdan, Arwen
    D: Erkenbrand, Quickbeam, Elfhelm
M: Merry, Pippin, Sam, Celeborn, Dwalin
    F: Glorfindel, Thranduil

    Great original post. Awesome.

So, the day before the storm at Azteca. Any insight from fans of El Tri? The coach said he brought in only domestic players so they could deal with the altitude better, but what about the away leg?

It'll be the same lineup as the one that faced Finland, which is fine by me.

I don't think its just the altitude, but that he wanted an XI who knows each other pretty well. The altitude will just be a boost.
