Many threads were lost during the BigSoccer site upgrade, including the notable "Riverplatenses Abroad" thread started by ElMuneco several years ago. They are apparently attempting to recover the lost threads, but one can't be sure they'll return. Til then, lets continue here.

Lamela was celebrating with everyone on the field as if he were another player on the team. UN CRACK! He never wanted to leave and wanted to help bring River back, but money and politics didn't allow him to.

Not one, but two ex River scored in America's 4-0 win over Queretaro last night. Check these two golazos from Rolfi Montenegro and Rubens Sambueza de tiro libre

El Pipita Higuain was also on the mark for Real Madird, though the Merengues only managed a 1-1 draw with Valencia. Hardly a classic goal from el Pipita, as it took him 3 chances to get it in, but they all count as the saying goes:

Going back to last week, Martin Demichellis played a big part in helping Malaga towards the Champions League groups stage when he opened the scoring against Panaithinaikos. I spoke out against Demi, but I think not bringing him back was a huge mistake, especially now with Maidana's imminent departure. Hopefully he can return in 2013 after his contract ends in spain:

I think Demichelis is not only regaining his confidence under Pellegrini, but his form as well. Plus, it was probably time for him to move on from Bayern.

The great Lucho Gonzalez struck twice as Porto beat guimaraes 4-0 today. Very strange to see him wearing number 3!

Belluschi left Porto for Bursaspor for a fee of about $3 million. I'm not saying he is what we needed or that he would have wanted to return at the moment, but it just goes to show you how ridiculous it is that we paid roughly the same amount of money for 60% of a player (Bottinelli) who's nowhere near the caliber of Belluschi.

I dont think anybody could argue with that. However it has to be said Belluschi is probably the most dissapointing Argentina player of the last decade not fulfilling his promise

Good week for Higuain. Not only did he score an important goal vs. Barsa to give Real Madrid the cup, but his goal (#106 with Madrid) made him enter merengue history by allowing him to break into the top 15 goalscorers of all time to play for the team, as well as a spot within the top 5 foreign goalscorers for Real Madrid. Not at all bad considering all the legends and great players that have played for them throughout their entire history. Bien pipita!

Falcao is the best CF on the planet, I have no doubt anymore.

And yet he's still second choice for Mourinho behind Benzema.

Falcao is just on fire... I'd really love to see him stay there for a few years and see Atletico break up the barcelona/real madrid monopoly

You know Lamela was rumored at one point to be going to Atletico, I wish he had ended up there instead of Roma I find Serie A to be the most boring league on the planet plus it would have been great to see him assisting Falcao

I love Serie A and all (I'd rather watch that than the EPL anyday, seems no amount of money leads to good football there), but Roma is a joke, yes Atleti is also a trainwreck but they always get the most out of South American talents. Seeing Falcao and Lamela reunited in Atleti would have been amazing, Lamela is just what they need too...
