Imagine if Cavenaghi, not Pavone, was the one finishing off those chances?

well there are rumors that Cavenaghi could return next semester... don't know how likely it is, but to give us any chance we need to root against Inter in the Copa because i believe (not sure 100% but i think) the semis and final will take place after the copa america which would make it impossible for him to come if Inter makes it that far

Good thing we're playing in el estadio unico.. It's a lot harder to play in Gimnasia's actual stadium, given the smaller dimensions of the field.

Can't wait for Sunday.. it's so much more fun to watch River when we're doing good. :)

not to mention we will have about 10,000 fans (i think its like 9500) while would have had less than half that in el bosque

i hope we win this game 3 or 4-0 and we display some of the stuff we showed against Quilmes. Cappa's recent comments have been bothering. I am not a fan of JJ's style, but you can't argue with his results. Cappa on the other hand made even bigger errors with subs and line up choices like taking out Ferrero or Lamela and a few other high profile moves that clearly cost us points.

Now he goes on about Favale, when all he did when he was at Rive was blame the refs for everything, and i see hes already giving himself excuses

Interestingly another avowed Bostero Diego Estevez in his book 38 campeones del futbol Argentino also gives the gol to Angelito. So Erico will have to share the glory. As the great Adolfo Pedenera said "Algun dia se van a morir todos los que nos vieron jugar a nosotros y talvez, alguien por herencia sabra quienes somos.Pero los libros van a hablar de Angel Labruna que fue el que hizo los goles"

speaking of idolos 37 years ago yesterday Daniel Alberto Passarella made his official debut for the club after doing so in a friendly against Boca during the summer. Overall 331 games, 103 goals for the club. One of the all-time greats not just at our club, but in the history of world futbol. Gracias x todo idolo

My viejo's greatest idol is also El Kaiser... to think some people call him bostero don't know anything about futbol. He was a fan of Boca as a child, he is now the heart and soul of RIVER.

I hope we don't have any ignorant people on here who call him bostero, but if anyone does, i suggest you watch replays of the games River played against Boca in the 70s and 80s and you will see that it was DAP who played with the most huevos creating and scoring goals as well as stopping them. As a coach, he was an enemy of the Boca idol Maradona and the traidor Caniggia, he basically built the NT around River players (check the 98 world cup squad and see how many there were), and he gave the debuts as coach to Almeyda, Gallardo, Ortega, Crespo, amongst others from 90-94 as our coach. Oh yea, and he burried his son with a River jersey on.

Right now though, many of the morons are gone, or atleast quiet, once we win the libertadores in 2012 all the haters will finally pay their respect

i guess i am the only one watching the game, i urge you to not watch it if you aren't... even under our worst moments under simeone i never doubted river actually wanted to win... this coach wants to tie 0-0 with teams from the b. its a complete disgrace. we just had a free kick and he wouldn't let roman or ferrero join the attack. i hope we lose this game to cause MAJOR CHANGES in the way we play. this is pathetic.

What a coward. Why the hell should Ferrari play the whole 90 minutes when a player like Pereyra is on the bench? I wouldn't be surprised if the kid asks for the exit door.

the worst thing is he says he plays with this system to because it wil be hard for the other team to arrive at our goal, but the truth is they arrive ALL THE TIME... its only thanks to Carrizo they don't score. The defensive line-up still gets carved open! Ferrari cannot mark! Without JP i fear we would already be descended. That ball he saved at the end one of the best saves i've ever seen

Funes Mori needs to play next game. Pavone does not know what it means to be a 9...
he is never in the area where he needs to be... he wants to be outside throwing centers, its so angering.

i say enough of these pavones, carusos, diaz, etc. play the pibes who came through the inferiores. give el Keko Villalva a chance. FM9 can score. Play Pereyra for gods sake. Give Gonzalez Pires more than 5 minutes. He couldn't do worse than Ferrero who only knows how to hit pelotazos. Give Cazares or Essomba some time

River Gaucho no one wants to see River return to OUR futbol as quickly as me but face reality River has a debt of 200 million pesos which has to be sorted.Ferrero sending pelotazos is correct but this defence has conceded four goals in ten games. This is a solidity we havent had since the great team of the nineties. The problem we have is we dont have enough creativity in midfield and a top class 9.Lets be honest Lamela is getting every chance and he didnt produce yesterday and his free kicks/corners are consistently BAD.I think we have to slowly bring on the pibes look at Lanzini we expect too much of an 18 year old.the same with Lamela who i am being critical of now hes only 19.We are where we are this futbol is horrible but we HAVE to make sure first we have no problems with the descenso and at the same time little by little solve the serious finacial problem the club has.
We will just have to have patience there is no magic wand solution of buying Saviola/Aimar/Dalessandro we have to build again slowly.
Thank god we have Carrizo,Maidana and Roman who are rock solid and to be fair is Ferrero. We will probably have to sell Eric in the winter sad as it is but its our reality. If we get 20 million Euro for him and get enough points to finish any more worries of relegation then OUR new River will be ready to take off

Brillaint Your Viejo and myself must be of the same era.Passarella was a wonderful player without doubt the greatest defender and caudillo i have ever seen play.I know you dont like JJS team nor do I but we have to put up with this for 9 more weeks and make sure we get stability.then I am sure the Kaiser will demand that we return to OUR futbol the River way

i understand the situation, but go back to 2008... we won the title thanks to offensive substitutions that changed games. Ortega would come in the 2nd half and give 2-3 pefect assists. El Chileno Sanchez would come on and use his speed, Augusto or even Archubi could add something.

I've now seen a few matches this torneo where attacking subs, especially bringing the speed of pereyra, would have changed the game but JJ decided to either not make changes, or bring on Caruso, who despite his 2 goals in NEwell's, is just painful to watch
