Livorno player Morosini dies during game By Football Italia staff It is confirmed that 25-year-old Piermario Morosini has died after collapsing during Pescara-Livorno due to a heart attack. He was rushed to the local hospital, but confirmation has now arrived that he was already dead when the ambulance arrived. "He suffered a cardiac arrest. Unfortunately he was already dead when the ambulance arrived. He never regained consciousness," announced Doctor De Blasi. The visitors were winning 2-0 after 31 minutes when Livorno midfielder Morosini began to stagger and then fell to the ground. Medical staff tried to revive him on the pitch and he was then rushed to the local hospital in an ambulance. He was on loan at Livorno, but owned by Udinese. There will be a minute's silence ahead of every Serie A game this weekend. It is at first glance a similar situation to the one that saw Fabrice Muamba collapse during Tottenham-Bolton. The chief cardiologist of the Pescara hospital was in the stands during the game and rushed down immediately to help. -------------------------------------------------------- What a tragedy
There's an update (I dont know if it's only a speculation): When the ambulance got to the vicinity of the Pescara stadium, the street was blocked by a local police car..firemen break glass of the driver door and move it. So the medical staff delayed by some minutes their intevention, a time span that may line the border between life and death... What a shame...It's Italy for you....
Morosini's tragic history By Football Italia staff Atalanta youth team chief Mino Favini reveals the tragedies that blighted Piermario Morosini’s brief life. “He was golden.” The 25-year-old collapsed during today’s Pescara-Livorno Serie B match and was owned by Udinese, but grew up in the prestigious Atalanta youth academy. “He was golden, always trying to help his family. That was Piermario Morosini,” explained Favini. “He grew up at Atalanta with me and I saw him playing as a very young boy. He was a fantastic lad who always rushed to help everyone. He lived for his family. “Yet he was such an unlucky man. He lost both parents young, his brother and sister have physical handicaps. His little brother recently killed himself by jumping out of a window. He had the most unfortunate life. “Udinese signed him from us and he was very talented. He had a strong career, was respected by all his teammates. Everywhere he went, people spoke highly of him. He had a heart of gold.” Former Vicenza teammate Raffaele Schiavi, now a defender at Padova, posted a picture of Morosini’s smiling face on Twitter. “Despite the many family problems he had, Moro always had a smile on his face and never let those issues come through. It’s how I want to remember him.” ----------------------------------------------------- Wow. Very sad
Rest in peace boy. I hope now you are again with your parents and your little brother. Searching news on internet I found out lucky was never by his side. It's so unfair, after all the tragedies happened to his family, that his life had to end at just 25 and in this absurd way. In italian, a piece of an article of 2005: Parla già da uomo adulto, Morosini, nonostante non abbia ancora 19 anni (li farà il 5 luglio).
That doesn't sound right to me. There should have been an ambulance crew already at the stadium for the duration of the game.
Yeah, the ambulance was already inside the stadium (multiple ambulances, actually), the local police car obstructed the entrance into the pitch. Ambulances are mandatory even in youth games, if there's no ambulance the game gets called off by the FIGC delegate.
Do u guys honestly think if the ambulance got there on time it would of saved his life? I saw the video of what happened and to me everyone was already doing CPR and trying to help him out. I read that the delay did not matter. However, I'm not a medical expert so I'm not going to try to to refute the claim.
I know the delay maybe was not decisive, but it's a shame that policemen don't park their cars in proper areas
maybe the car was where it was supposed to be for security purposes. it's easy to place blame when you don't know all the facts.
Pay Piermario Morosini Respect That Really Means Something http://www.footandball.net/pay-piermario-morosini-respect-that-really-means-something/
Wow! My respects to Di Natale for taking responsibilty of Morosini's sister http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/86/i...tale-udinese-will-look-after-morosinis-sister
rest in peace. very sad tragic story. i can't admit to having known of him two weeks ago, but i wish i did. he seems to have been genuinely a great kid, not someone who people only praise after death. at least he is in a better place
