    This picture upsets me greatly. Sporting and or any other teams scarves are a sign of respect to what that man meant to portuguese football or hell, football in general.

    Apparently some vandals didn't like them there so Benfica pulled them out until some kind of protection could be assembled. They could've avoided all the mess after this photo was published if they had just said so at the moment instead of waiting several hours.

    A construção da estrutura que vai rodear a estátua de Eusébio, de forma a proteger os objetos lá deixados em memória do Pantera Negra, decorre a todo o gás, tendo sido acompanhada por Luís Filipe Vieira.

    O presidente do clube da Luz fez questão de ver como os trabalhos estão a decorrer, tendo estado a conversa com vários elementos responsáveis pelas obras.

    Ao que tudo indica, a estrutura já deverá estar pronta a tempo do clássico com o FC Porto, marcado para domingo.

    Well at least it's not SLB itself causing the scarves and such to be removed but still sad that some clowns would force the club to take these kind of actions.

    What can i say?

    I grew up listening to the achievements of that amazing team. Those guys are immortals, they will never "die". If there's a 5th tier somewhere, Eusébio will be seated up-front.

    Thanks for all the memories, you made Benfica one of the greats!


    ps - About the scarves: don't worry, they can be seen near the statue. There are idiots everywhere, unfortunately.
