David Wangerin, an American who lived in Kinrosshire, supported Raith Rovers, and was the author of two of the greatest books on the history of soccer in America, died on Saturday. David, who had lived in the UK since 1987 and in Scotland since 1999, was a regular contributor to When Saturday Comes. His books on American soccer ("Soccer in a Football World," published in 2006, and "Distant Corners," published in 2011) are a must-read for a serious student of the game here in the United States.
