You do know that even the biggest corporations have debt right?

I do agree the better title would be the highest revenue teams in the world.

Well they were calling them rich until they went under.

GM was rich until the bail out (now I guess they are rich again), so was AIG and Citi bank, etc.

Yes, they called Bernie Maddoff rich until he got caught as well. Now people that trusted him with their money call him something else. Is his company rich?

None of those corporations were or are rich. The ones that survived shifted their debt from owing the government to owing investors with government guarantees on the debt. Your tax money bailed them out from foreclosure.

I'm not sure there would be a bailout for a club when the bank holding the debt is itself in trouble.

Real Madrid's debt is largely held by two Spanish banks who are themselves near insolvency and are only afloat due to the good graces of German money to keep the Euro afloat. At some point German taxpayers will sour on paying for C. Ronaldo and Kaká.

The recourse then will be another government bailout....financed by what? Have you read about the financial state of Spain?

If he lives in Spain he probably haven't read about it, since he would be burning the newspaper to keep warm at night!
