The Revs would be foolish to trade Toja, now. I hope these are just wild speculations and not something they are actually thinking of doing.
Exactly. Everyone's in love with Toja apparently. If he was any good I'm sure Dallas would've kept him.
You say that as if Dallas waived him or something. Toja transferred to Europe because he was good, you do realize that, right?
Yes and he is back in MLS. With rare exceptions that usually means you're not very good. You do realize that right?
Yeah rare exceptions like: Landon Donovan Kenny Cooper Connor Casey Nat Borchers Ricardo Clarke Danny Califf Jay Demerritt Bakery Soumare Eddie Johnson Kamani Hill Marcus Hannemen So I take it you are going to take the same illogical hyperbolic view on Toja that you did on Benny last year. Good to know.
Toja was a 2-time All Star in the recent past (proven track record in MLS) and transferred to a UCL team in Romania, then went to one of Greece's top teams and was in their regular rotation. I'm guessing he left Aris due to Greece's economic freefall rather than a performance issue, and I imagine not too many other European teams were scouting UEFA backwaters that heavily to give him a satisfactory offer...so here he is.
Lee Nguyen technically didn't "return" to MLS, but he's another European reject who has performed well in MLS. I think your list is probably sufficient though.
Thanks for the back story. His most impressive club is pre-MLS with River Plate in Argentina, the rest eh. Maybe he's one of the aforementioned rare exceptions.
Huh? How many players leave MLS for Europe and return? No many. The majority of players have returned to the league and been quality players during their second stint. Please, list all of the players who have returned and been ineffective. That list is definitely shorter.
that is like 80% of the guys who have returned in the last two years. So, in the context, using basic ********ing math...your point is totally inane.
He isn't moving to England. He is moving back to MLS. He doesn't need to be world class, or have played for world class teams, to be an effective player, in MLS. You want to tout context, try understanding it first. Do you actually watch games of soccer, or do you just look at the league table standings online, and search google and wikipedia?
I just hope at the end of the season we're not debating whether the team situation or the player himself made him SUCK with the Revs. C'mon Toja, Show us your stuff this season! Kevin D.
The problem is Kevin, if Toja fails here the common response will be along the lines of "Heaps sucks" or "it's the turf". It won't matter if there are other players that figure out a way to be successful, there is no such thing as accountability among some (not all, just some) revs fans. Get the excuses ready for Halloween when the Revs miss the playoffs again.
Enough, both of you. In regards to this discussion, I have no idea what to expect from Toja at this point. But thinking he's not going to be good just because he returned to MLS doesn't make sense to me.
