The way we chant it is boring. The first "Whoa" in the Chorus is one note while the second one has two notes. If sung like that, it would sound way better.

The singer is right up your alley peabrain. Very experimental and downright weird at times. He was also the guy singing in "There's Something About Mary".

OK, I think I'll put the poll up tomorrow, so it's your last chance to get in suggestions.

So far I got these as serious suggestions that were seconded:

    "New England" by Jonathan Richman
"Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty
    "Revolution" by The Ruddles

The poll will obviously have a "none of the above" option.

I'm not foolish enough to think that the bigsoccer community should dictate to the entire Revs supporter base what the anthem should be. Whatever wins should be played at tailgates and if there's any strong showings in the poll, they should be played also. We'll go from there.....

More implementation talk on the poll thread.

Once again, last chance to get suggestions in or try to prove why one of the previous suggestions belongs in the poll.

I still really like Dirty Water. My fave is of course Richman's song, but I think this should be an option.

sorry, I meant the richman song. the others I know.

I still love a dropkick idea. but I seem to be the only one. still wnated to throw a few out there..
the last one I love and it's an easy one (so is the 1st)

here's one ore two. the 1st has a "you'll never walk alone feel"

    DROPKICK MURPHYS LYRICS

    "Forever"

"Never take your loved ones for granted: they could be gone tomorrow"
all of my dreams seem to fall by the side like a discarded thought or the day's fading light
but I know that if I could just see you tonight forever at times we may fall,
like we all tend to do but I'll reach out and find that I've run into you
your strength is the power that carried me through forever

Your kindness for weakness I never mistook I worried you often,
yet you understood that life is so fleeting,
these troubles won't last forever inspired me truly you did from the start to not be afraid
and to follow my heart there's a piece of you with me they can't tear apart forever

Forever I'll find you, forever we'll be
Forever your power and strength stays with me

    or a more hoolie style

Dropkick Murphys The Gauntlet lyrics Dropkick Murphys The Gauntlet lyrics

Well I just got back from a break in the fight I was weighing in heavy but still feeling alright
all I hear in the distance mines and shells
here come the sirens wailing another attack to be repelled
do you think we're gonna make it?
I don't know unless we try
you could sit here scared to move or we could take them by surprise
    it's submission that they want
    it's surrender that they need
when we're doing it their way their aims will be achieved
They're gonna come when you're not ready
    when you're not to well-prepared
they're gonna prey upon your weakness no man's soul is ever spared
you've got to stand up, yeah, and fight them
show them what it's all about this man is not for sale there will be no backing down
    Chorus:
Stand up and fight and I'll stand up with you!
    We shall succeed
They won't get me they won't get me
thought they never cease to try
they won't get me they won't get me
I would rather fight and die
they won't get me they won't get me
well my friend will they get you?
when they get you when they get
you tell me what are you gonna do?

    or a straight out anthem

Dropkick Murphys A Few Good Men lyrics Dropkick Murphys A Few Good Men lyrics

It's time we stood up for ourselves so get up off your knees.
We'll shake off our detractors and attain our hopes and dreams
and if we fall prey to in-fighting, we're never gonna win,
so put aside your differences, sing loud, sing proud
We won't listen to their stories or be waylaid by their lies
it's a dream that's still attainable for kids like you and I
So if we all stand together singing one defiant song
our voice will reach the heavens, so sing with all your heart
    Chorus:
    Join us in a song
we shall rise and sing stand up and be counted
sing a song for liberty join us in this song
together we shall sing rise up and be counted
sing it loud, sing it proud
We've been brutalized and crucified, the brunt of their attacks,
is corruption not their trademark and compassion what they lack?
If we can realize our common goals,
the end of which is plain united and now stronger,
their loss is now our gain!

I'm kindof partial to "Barroom Hero". It's too bad DM isn't more universal.

If I could wave a magic wand, dropkick murphys would be more widely known. I think it's a better use of a magic wand than Bill Clinton's 1992 "cure aids" plan.

I love the Murphy's. The only problem is finding a song that we can actually sing ...

And to be honest, I think an anthem, if we're actually going to do this, needs to be slow enough that others can follow and pick up on.

Just because it won't be our anthem, doesn't mean we can't sing it.

If anyone thinks the Muppet's Theme (or revs remix) should be on the poll speak now....

Then you should check out some of Richman's other stuff. "Dancing in a Lesbian Bar" is an absurd classic from what I've gathered.

    Polls up.

I also have two new great chants to post. I think there's another thread for that.
