Like I've said many times before...I cannot for the life of me see where it makes any sense for them to spend $50-$150million on a new stadium and take away 17 dates from the man mall. Unless there's a big push by MLS owners for Kraft to shape up or ship out...his 12k avg at Gillette is prob fine to them...no?

I get it that we WANT a stadium...and all the other teams are making a push for it. But, aside from Seattle, we're the only one that's got an NFL owner with a stadium that he says was designed for multi-sport..!

I dunno..probably he just signed a multi-year deal to have Monster Truck weekends to fill those dates?

You're using the words "professional soccer game" pretty loosely. I'd much rather set aside that $450 for a trip to Columbus for an important US WCQ.

Here's what I take away from Mayor Rizzo's appearance on Fox 25:

"Right now, as I say, it's very, very preliminary."

"We really don't have any timetable at all."

Also, the mayor is kidding himself if he truly believes that the powers-that-be running a resort casino at the Suffolk Downs site are going to be interested in regularly shuttling their patrons out to a soccer-specific stadium on the Wonderland site to take-in concerts. Ditto for day-trips to Revere's "pristine beaches". The money in operating a resort casino is made through keeping your patrons on the property. The vast majority of guests at the likes of Caesars Palace, the MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, etc. aren't taking shuttle buses to the Thomas & Mack Center or Sam Boyd Stadium to see concerts. They're entertained on-site at the likes of the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and the Mandalay Bay Events Center. There's no reason to believe that a major luxury resort casino developer in East Boston isn't going to want to exercise the same type of control over its guests.

Who gives a shit about the Red Sox? Baseball sucks. Unfortunately, so do the Revs, and $450 is still a ripoff for this halfassed product. You may have fun, but the consumers have voted. They think this product sucks. Ownership uses the few people they have left, and their addiction to live soccer. You've admitted before that you go because it is too much fun. Which is great for you, but in the eyes of other people who knows this product is a joke, and that ownership takes advantage of the few fans they have, you are a stooge. Sorry.

I've easily spent more money on the USMNT in the last 3 years than I have for the Revs. I've used the disposable income I wasted on this crap product and traveled to Toronto, NJ and DC. Important qualifier or not, they are deserving of my money 100 times more than this joke of an operation going on here.

Of course he is ok with 12k average. I'm sure the team makes just enough in revenue to cover needed expenses, and the residual effect of getting foot traffic down to the strip mall makes up the rest. I think it is more likely that he adds the Monster Trucks to the current schedule along with the Revs, not in place of them. Plus, how many of those Monster Truck and Country Feest fans go into the patriots store? They will lose all the "soccer" fans going into the store on game days to buy Brady and Gronkowski jerseys.

That's because it's a new field that hasn't taken deep root yet, not because of football games.

Next year, it'll be in much better shape.

    Revere would be good
    Assembly Square would be better
Working out a deal with Harvard in the Allston/ Brighton property would be best ( I can dream can't I?)

I am happy to see news other than the normal garbage w hear. But I am being careful about being hopeful. If you were around here in the late 80's thru the mid 90's. You will remember the holes that the Delaware North company and Krafts had to do just to build privately funded stadiums. So my thoughts are if it is true you are looking at the earliest a 2017 opening.

Am I the only one who feels the Somerville news makes it sound like nothing is really happening anywhere? Like all that has actually happened as far as Kraft org's involvement with both locations is the extremely preliminary talks, and the mayor of Revere is just trying to push the issue from his bully pulpit while Somerville isn't interested in having anyone go on record other than a mayoral aide?

When viewed in the larger context getting a project like this done is just one big chess game. If it wasn't about something close to my hearts desire it would be really fun to watch. Frankly I'm willing to forgo the fun of watching it play out. JUST GET THE F**KER DONE

The public officials (and private parties, for that matter) are only going to give carefully calculated statements to help them re-inforce their positions and avoid getting bound up to closely with something that might or might not happen. This could be much further along than being implied, or it might not - I don't think the public statements are a reliable benchmark. OTOH, the fact that these sites are being talked about in the mainstream media is a big step IMO.

The good news is that KSG seems to be negotiating with multiple potential sites. No one is going to have good bargaining position when they only have one option.

I guess I'm just paranoid/skeptical/whatever you want to call it because the Revs have been so tight-lipped on this and have been stringing us along for years, and now out of the blue we get confirmation from two municipalities that sites are under discussion at some early level. I guess I feel like this...

As an outright cynic and doomer of this team for almost 2 decades...I had my bouts with positivism. Buying ST just as the Revs got Twellman and the beginnings of a "Dynasty" type squad. Down deep I've always resented Kraft's GUSHING LOVE for his pats. While never standing up for the Revs in the media that HE TOTALLY could have made an impact him. Be it he or his progeny, they NEVER made me feel like the team had any priority. Other than what's been hashed on here and with like minds, that seems like, forever!

And of course, even when this little flurry of activity and news comes storming into our sorry season, even I, perked up!!

"Trollies ring, are ya listenin...Soccer fans, we're-a singing...
What a beautiful sight..In chorus all night...
    Hoping for the RevsToWonderland"

But, I, like doubting Thomas...needs to put my fingers into the Stigmata. I need to hear the drunk mumbling fool say it in his own drooling way.

"Ahhhhhhh...Revs, you're gettin a Stadium in __________! Signed, sealed and shovels bought"

otherwise..it's biz as usual. Burns is still here. Bilello is still here. Worthless mass of moving flesh Comm Dir is still here...and Heaps is still here...Doing the same tired old crap that's made THOUSANDS of die hard Soccer Savvy fans just stay away.

I gotta hand it to KSG, they have really figured out a decent marketing strategy this year. In years past they have half-assed this stadium thing, but now they really seem to get it. This could mean good news for the future. Not for the fact that they may get a new stadium (they won't), but because they have truly figured out how to exploit the consumers and retain potentially lost customers!!!!!

This marketing and PR department has really taken a turn in the right direction, IMHO

Franchise owners always publicly discuss multiple sites when discussing the construction of a new facility so they can play the sites against each other in the hopes of a bidding war breaking out.

However, given that this is an MLS stadium in the Boston market, I don't think a bidding war will ever happen. So I am really confused. And ever so slightly hopeful that a new stadium is in the works (preferably closer to the city center than Revere.)

I still don't understand what piece of news is involved here.

An enthusiastic mayor who approached the Revs (not vice versa) about Wonderland?

I also don't understand Bilello's use of "ASAP", as if he thinks it means "whenever". Maybe that's how Kraft Soccer uses it, but not most people.

And what "point" is he talking about?

Look at this jibberish statement littered with contradictions:

"I think we've drawn a line to say this is what it needs to be to have the impact everyone wants it to have. Once we can get past that point, I think it'll be pretty quick. If anything, we'll rush through it to get it built as quickly as possible.”

    (OK, I'm listening)

Bilello said the Revs are hoping to strike the right deal sooner rather than later in order to get the team into its own venue in 2015 or 2016.

    (sounds good)

“You could still hit the beginning of the 2015 season window at this stage,” Bilello said. “Once you get to 2013, you're looking at 2016. For us, it's really ASAP. Right now, that's 2015. There's no real back end time, like we want to build it by this date or that date.

    (WTF???)

“There may be sites that have some restrictions, but right now, I don't think that's going to be a concern. It's about getting the right deal in place that makes it work.

(aaaand....we're back to the same old Revs FO message)

It's all about obfuscation. I feel like a squid has just inked up my dive mask.

In fairness, real estate developers are often tight-lipped when it comes to their projects. And the Krafts did have a bad experience once trying to build an urban stadium. It wouldn't shock me if the news from Revere came as a surprise to them.
