We have one SI spot available, but our roster isn't complete and I'm assuming we're still interested in at least another one or two foreign players. It doesn't seem like something we'd have the luxury of trading away right now.
If this were any other team I would say you are right however this is the Revs we are talking. They have a history of not being very creative when it comes to their roster and making moves
Geez, I hope not. I don't get why people are so intent on fixing something that's not broke (when other things are). We once had Walter Zenga, doing some of the best goalkeeping the league has ever seen - and we still sucked. Last season, Reis had the occasional blunder and Shuttles had a couple of goals that he might have done better on, but way more often than not, they both kept the Revs in the game and gave them a chance to get results.
For whatever it's worth! Chris Bianchi @Rapids_News Told it's not Toronto. He's a Philly guy...maybe back to NE? Re: Jeff the Red!
Ives just tweeted that we were in talks with Chivas over a trade for Kennedy, but that talks have since died. He mentioned that we're also rumored to be shopping Toja.
Does anyone really think we'll come out on top of any trade we make? It may have worked with Chivas USA last season, but I have a hard time believing we'll outsmart another FO. That said, I have no problem with trading any/all of our 2nd round picks for something of substance in return. 2nd round picks just haven't produced all that well recently.
I'll bet it is Barrett or Freeman. Makes sense that they'd want to get it done before the draft. If it were a trade, I doubt they'd be leaking before everything was signed and sealed.
I would be kinda pissed if we got rid of Toja after jettisoning Benny. Toja is one of the chief reasons Benny was expendable.
The Revs have traded up to the #1 position in the draft, giving up the #4 pick and allocation money. http://www.revolutionsoccer.net/2013-superdraft
Swapping picks with Toronto (#1 for #4) plus allocation money. Of course, the real question is how much allocation money did we give up to move up 3 places in the draft? On the other hand, "we never use our allocation money anyway," so it seems like a good move to use it to get the top player in the draft.
"And with the first choice in the 2013 MLS Draft, The New England Revolution select..... Diego Maradona!" :0
I guess this is the deal that Burns was talking about. Interesting move. Have to think Farrell being for the most part everyone's #1 pick plus a GA will be the Revs pick. He fills a huge need and can play CB and RB.
unless of course they have a player lined up. Maybe they use the #1 pick for Carlos Alvarez and hand the playmaking role over to a rookie. I hope that Heaps is not that stupid
