For as much as I like Dorman he was out of a job, a convenient pick-up and a known quantity. That being said I've yet to hear any rumors of "another major addition," let alone any addition.
There was a lot of talk right after the Cisse signing that Walter Martinez was pretty much a done deal, but I haven't heard anything since then. Not sure I'd call him a major addition, but certainly a boost in talent/experience.
What's the word on a Caldwell HomeGrown deal? I think the Revs have until the 10th to get ink on paper.
@guypatterson Probably mid-December (league wide) on home grown players— Brian Bilello (@RevsPrez) November 28, 2012
I forget where I read it, but after trying to re-locate it I found that apparently its not true. There is no real hard deadline but MLS likes to know prior to handing out their combine invites in December. So, it will or will not happen in the very near future.
While its the PC thing to do, it will cost Heaps his job in the end because as we've seen, Burns never seems to be held responsible for the sorry collection they're trying to market as a professional soccer team. At some point I wish somebody would say that they cant weave straw into gold and be honest. I wonder what it would take to get a Bruce Arena in here? I'm convinced that guy, when given a free hand, can turn a franchise around.
Perhaps. I have never heard of Martinez, like most if not all rev foreign signings so can't say I would be overly disappointed if he didn't sign. But if he could help, great.
He was a part of the Catrachos for 2 Gold Cups, WCQ2010 and WC2010. He also tore up CCL a couple years back with Marathon. We have no one who is close to having that experience(assuming Benny is not back). I wouldn't call it a setback, as it was all rumor, but he's certainly the talent level this team should be aiming for.
I wouldn't start worrying about it until other teams start announcing homegrown deals and there's still nothing on Caldwell. For now, the only news is that LA has signed Oscar Sorto, but even that is unofficial. Now that the College Cup is over, perhaps things will pick up.
Akron finals week start on Monday http://www.uakron.edu/registrar/dates/semesterdates.dot Let him bump up that GPA so he better analyze contract offers
https://twitter.com/DanishFooty/status/277894007886077952 Danish Football News@DanishFooty Michael Parkhurst has played his last game for FC Nordsjælland. The defender is looking for a new challenge. Contract's up after this year
You shouldn't have mentioned Benny. Most people think he is worthless, at least IMMO reading these boards. Myself, I hope that Jay Heaps stays awake at night sometimes wondering why the hell he couldn't get more out of a talented player. It should be near the top of his list as he reflects on his first year of coaching. Start a thread. Parkhurst to re-sign with the Revolution in 12-24 Months.
But Burns really wasn't responsible for player selection in the past. When Nicol was in charge Nicol chose the players and Burns negotiated. Burns had practically no say on who the team brought it. If you go dig up the interviews from last year when Burns got the promotion, it was stated repeatedly that Nicol built the team. Burns was merely the contract guy.
Chivas USA currently has Shalrie Joseph and Oswaldo Minda on the books as Designated Players for next season. Joseph's contract is guaranteed for 2013 after he appeared in a contractually dictated number of matches during the 2012 season. http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/1110...breakdown-chivas-usa-must-commit-finances-and
