Just figured this was the easiest place to put all the stuff that's coming out... Trying hard! How long have we been hearing this? This one pisses me off. The season start's freakin' Saturday!
One from Justin Churchill of Goal.com: In the almighty words of the Smiths, "stop me if you think you've heard this one before."
Just like some here keep saying the Revs don't really want to get a DP or market this team till we have a new stadium, apparently that's what we're waiting for in regards to get the last assistant coach.
Also have to love the trigger for our other favorite drinking game, the touting of renewal rates. Q: Hey what's 80% of 5,000 people? A: One quarter of JED-WELN. Also if the rates were so strong, why the sitdown with non-renewed STHs?
Couldn't approaching 80% be the same as going from say 64% to 68%? It's getting closer to 80% but it doesn't mean it is close. I'm assuming Brian means the renewal rate is somewhere in the mid-to-high 70s.
I still don't know what that renewal rate actually means. 1. 80% of last year's STH's have bought for 2011? Doesn't tell me how many new STH's they've recruited. 2. Or that the total number of STH's in 2011 is 80% of the total from 2010? This would tell me something more.
I think it only tells you that 80% of last year's have renewed (ie if they had 5k last year, they're getting close to 4k renewing). They rarely announce their actual season ticket numbers ... too embarrassing when compared to other teams.
I'm sure there'll be a way to spin this. Kinda like last year's "We've got the 5th best renewal rate" or whatever that number is...
Good question. They don't have to pay Heaps any extra for it, is the answer. All non-monetary methods are on the table. Who needs those fancy, locker-room riling foreign DPs, or those "scouting departments"? We've got elbow grease!
The actual news is horrible...!! The spin is comical..!!! Ummm..We've collected taxes 80% of the time, each year running...by next year our entire budget will be based on that last tax payer making sure he's on time with his payment..!! LMFAO!!!
signed in 10-14 days, another 2-4 weeks for paperwork so that would be well over a month into the season before they add more players....Hopefully they are new guys, starting caliber and not former trialists obviously having another assistant is not a priority during spring training
Mike (no you don't even deserve the respect for me to call you Mr. Burns), we still aren't good enough because of you. Changing out crap for more crap, just leaves you with DIFFERENT crap. We understand Rowe is talented and will be good. But you let all our forwards walk, didn't sign anyone who has proven can score goals consistently and there is a HUGE gaping hole at LB that has been ignored for years. If I see you in person this year, I will probably only have 3 unpleasant words for you. They start with the letters G F and Y respectively. EDIT: The worst part about it is that they have a built in excuse for when they fail after this year. They will throw out the word rebuilding OVER and OVER and OVER game. It's sad really.
Here's what ol' BB said in February '11 (bolding my own): Yeah, go team! While I agree, let's remind ourselves ownership supposedly had a "win now/get better fast" attitude as recently as last season:
Oh, c'mon guys!!!!! Running a soccer team is REAL HARD! They are doing the best they can. You can't expect them to compete with everyone in the league! That would be unreasonable!
