Just checked out the Rhinos roster because I knew one of the former players and was hoping to see him there again (he's not). Pierre Omanga appears to have landed in Rochester.
Very interesting - Omanga likely signed there because it keeps him on the Revs' radar and a strong season might give him another shot (I imagine Brettschneider signed there last year for the same reason). Still don't know why they haven't sent Donnie Smith down there - this is the second straight season he started the opener and hasn't seen a minute of playing time following the game.
I was actually thinking about waiting for the day to be over before saying the same thing. We know it's pretty much impossible, but I too so wish it could happen, not just for Jerry, but for any DP who doesn't perform as he should, a club which Jerry is hardly the founding member of.
Do we still owe them a player, or do they have all 4? Their season starts soon, so we might still have to reassign someone.
We still owe them one, although I wouldn't be surprise to find out that the Revs signed Omanga and shipped him straight to Rochester, and just "didn't bother" to tell anyone, like JoGo being left behind for the Philly game.
I was thinking that might be the case. It would make more sense to do that, instead of sending one of the guys already on the end of the roster. Then we'd have effectively 4 open roster slots.
I'm thinking it has more to do with the fact that Rochester's coaches were with the Revs in Florida (and maybe Arizona) so they have a familiarity with Omanga and were comfortable signing him.
Rochester fell 3-1 in Orlando last night. Soffner went 90 in goal. Sanchez and Sundly didn't make the 18. You can watch the game here:
Rochester may have just declined it. Looks like Sundly and Sanchez didn't even make the roster this past weekend. Doesn't bode well for development.
Well if you can't even stay in Foxboro let alone make the 18, they're probably not interested in him. I wonder if choosing to kept the last roster spot open is a savvy roster management trick they learned from the revs? RRIASBT
Thanks, sounds funny to say, but I'm glad to hear that they're fighting injury. We'd obviously much rather have our players there fighting injury as opposed to fighting a lack in talent when compared to the other players there.
I understand that the Revs coaches are busy during the season, but does anybody know if any of the Revs coaches ever get a chance to see the players at Rochester play live? How do the Revs coaches keep up with their development? How often do they talk to the players or coaches in Rochester? How often does the Revs official website have information about their players in Rochester? I wonder what the experience is like for the guys out in Rochester and what kind of feedback the Revs have received from players sent out there both last year and so far this year? Is the relationship working for the Revs? Was their anything that the Revs hoped would be better this year as opposed to last year? Just curious.

1-1 tie, sounds like Soffner got fouled to give up the tying goal in injury time ala Mignolet last week.
Sundly gets a start against the Fire reserves. Just now in the middle of the 2nd half the broadcast is drowned out by a plane landing at Midway...
Rhinos vs Fire Reserves, full game on YouTube: I only watched the first half so far. Sundly, #24, looked pretty good, playing DM, but earned a yellow card at the end of the first half. Chicago had the majority of possession, but Rhinos defended well and scored on the counter in the 23'.
Well, that argument can be put to bed now. The #NERevs have loaned @Donnie33Smith to the @RochesterRhinos.http://t.co/W8Pqh4mhzL— New England Revolution (@NERevolution) April 23, 2014 FWIW, I'm pretty sure he would have joined sooner, but the Revs wanted him to stay local while he recovered from that foot injury he had.
Good. Hope the kid gets a chance to play, even if it doesn't result in a spot here, maybe he can latch on elsewhere.
He has an odd history. Two appearances. Both starts. Both season openers. Sounds form the Revs site like this might be a short, rehab stint.
