New England heads down to RFK to face a United team that is similarly trying to get something positive out of these early season games. I'll be there in section 318 with a handful of other Revolution supporters. Evan
For all their offseason moves, DCU looked pretty unimpressive against Chicago. I like our chances down there.
If "like our chances" is a draw, maybe. But who's going to score our goals, the DC back line? We have no forwards that actually score goals and until Diego gets his mojo back or Teal "Brettschneider" Bunbury proves he's able to find the back of the net or set up goals, we'll have to depend on luck (own goals, quick restarts, penalties, etc). If the revs score early, they will bunker just like they did in SJ, until the equalizer. 1-1 is my prediction.
- there are plenty of guys who can score goals - Bunbury showed he can find the back of the net in preseason. Sure, regular season is different, but you think he forgot where the goal is? - they didn't bunker vs. SJ. The quakes ramped up the attack (which is what teams generally do when they trail - especially at home) and the Revs defended. They continued to attack when they were able to gain possession.
I don't care about preseason, its about scoring goals when it matters. I realize you have significantly lower expectations for productivity outputs than than me but Bunbury hasn't scored in a MLS game that counts since 8/11/12. Four games in, I just want him to end the drought, ASAP. As for bunkering, I guess its a case of semantics. The revs stopped attacking once they got the lead, inviting SJ to step up the pressure. Would have preferred a more aggressive approach.
assuming Rowe is still out, I'd like to see Imbongo Davies-Daigo-Nguyen-Bunbury Dorman Woodbine-Soares-JoGo-Farrell Brobby Knightworth Since neither Davies nor Sene can go full 90, I'd like to give 60 to Davies and 30 to Sene. Use Diego as a supersub for Bunbury.
If only the Revs could find one of them... Remember Casey Schmidt? No? Me neither, I had to look him up. Fifth-round draft pick of the Rapids in 2003 out of Boston College. Scored like 6 goals in preseason, was the talk of MLS. Played 13 regular season games without scoring, and was never heard from again. Scoring in preseason, while better than NOT scoring, has very little value in the regular season.
Zack Schilawski scored three in his first game at home. Then he scored 3 in the other 49 games he played in. Maybe he forgot where the net was?
If only we had box goals back then. Seems like the weather is going to be nice on Saturday. I want to see the Revs in a 4-4-2 with Sene in a withdrawn role up top with Bunbury.
I've been meaning to ask, any word on Rowe? When does the injury report come out? Someone said they thought he might have hurt his other leg than the one that kept him out in Philly, is that true?
Knowing that they've said they're looking for another forward, could you please not post things about players who scored goals somewhere, on a Revolution related site, especially not if there's any youtube footage of the player out there. If we hear in the near future that Burns and the Revs are in pursuit of an unnamed former MLS forward who's left the league, but had a good scoring rate for a time when with his previous team, we'll know who to blame.

I just saw this, and am a little shocked. I haven't seen anyone else mention it. It's regarding Clyde Simms. As a former Rev and DC player, I thought it might be relevant. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...elder-clyde-simms-awaiting-kidney-transplant/

That's because most of their "rebuild" came through the Re-Entry Draft. All they really did was add a bunch of league-average, aging veterans, and their younger players have either heavily regressed (DeLeon, Kitchen) or are totally unproven (Silva, Doyle, Jeffrey). Cristian Fernandez and Eddie Johnson were DC's only "impact" signings, and that's only two players for a ton of holes. I predict 2-1 Revs again. EJ will power one in but the Revs hang a couple on DC's still-disorganized backline and invisible midfield.
