Sorry Doc, but I, live north of the city and there's absolutely no way in hell that I find the trip to Gillette is easier than going into Boston. I have both Revs and Bruins STHs, so I make both trips fairly regularly. And I'm willing to be that most of my fellow ME/NH/Northern MA would side with me on this one.
Soccer Doc is coming from Keene, for him time-wise it is essentially the same in to the city (2 hours 2 minutes/2 hours 4 minutes)* as it is to Foxboro (2 hours 6 minutes/2 hours 15 minutes)* so I can see why he'd find it easier to avoid the hassle of the city, but I suspect most NH Revs fans are traveling from the central & eastern parts of the state (Route 3, 93, & 95) where it is drastically shorter to go Boston than it is Foxboro. * = shortest 2 routes from Google Maps
This is why I am ready for an SSS in Boston. I can drive down 93 to Boston so much easier than to Foxboro.
[quote="Rangers Rob, post: 26302947, member: 100390} I can see why he'd find it easier to avoid the hassle of the city, [/quote] To me the biggest issue of a in town SSS is the hassle of trying to negotiate my way around Boston. Going to Foxboro is mostly interstate parkway travel (a little Rt 1) into the stadium. Right now my old worn out eyes still allow me to drive the parkways but make city driving a non-starter. But then the location SSS isn't about pandering to FOG's . But hell, for a decade I drove 800 miles to all home games from Prince Edward Island so why should I complain about driving into the cjty!
If Kraft gets his Train service to F#$%sboro and gets his multi-residential development approved...He won't need to build a SSS in/on or under the property. He'll take cues from BC Place in Vancouver and keep the Revs firmly entrenched at Gillette. It's what makes the most sense. He got 20k+ to Foxboro before. By putting some nice curtains across the top and putting a 1/10 of a new stadium price into marketing, he can get 20k again. And that to him will be sufficient. Urban stadium, across Route 1 stadium, etc..all cost uber bucks. He doesn't need to do it. Has he truly LOST money in the 17 years as REVS owner? Not MLS funding or San Jose, etc. But, in Foxboro??? just 10k x $20 x 17 dates..that's 3.4million...Being under cap for many years, add in concessions, International games, etc..take out what paltry $ he's paid staffers and voila! I don't believe he's ever lost a dime..or has he?? Win Win for KraftyWorld..!! Forget SSS in Revere, Slumberville or Boston Common!
Maybe the stadium grounbreaking news they were talking about...was actually in Baltimore LMAO SEE YA REVS!
QFT and repped! Yeah, some people here say he's a likable guy and all that, but seriously, he is over his head in the kiddie pool. And the whole way he handled that Team-Ops fiasco where he lied through his teeth about stuff he thought people were too stupid to realize made me lose what little respect I had for him to begin with.
Reading all these posts, one would think we are the New Hampshire Revolution. Helloooooo the vast majority of the youth soccer jackets I see at games are from South Shore and Metro West
And I have lived in both (Scituate and Framingham) Boston is 100 times easier to get to from both locations.
December 3rd is coming up fast Bob and Jon. How's Bilello's Boston SSS Duckboat search coming along? Oh yeah, then there's THIS LITTLE GEM ... Tic toc boys, tic toc.
This also puts it a stones throw from the CalTrain/Amtrack Santa Clara station, with airport shuttle bus access to the Mountain View/Winchester and Alum Rock/Santa Teresa light rail lines. That means it is one through-transfer on Amtrak from Seattle, LA, and Portland.
Well, Gillette stadium is one transfer from Amtrack and two transfers from Logan airport. We just don't have service for Revs games.
