OF COURSE!!!!!!!!!!! Thats whats taking so long. Finding a company to build the revs and SSS at a decent price AND include free cup holders. Don't I feel like and @$$ for complaining this hole time. I'm much rather wait than get screwed with no cup holders like the Dynamo fans just did
Ok, seriously? I seem "very convinced"? Did you even read what I typed? To spell it out for you at length, what I said exactly was: "IF he built a stadium, and IF he could then possibly spend a little more money to make something that would draw more people to visit it so as to make more money, of course he would do it, even if he hated soccer." You can look up the exact dictionary definition, but basically, the word 'if' is meant to imply there is some doubt about the statement that follows, and the fact that I capitalized the whole word was meant to imply that I think both ideas are definitely not forgone conclusions. Someone else, not me, had said that if a stadium was built, a hall of fame type thing could be attached which could possibly draw people and therefore bring in more money. You said that you doubted such an addition would ever be built, and the only reason you gave was because people accuse him of not enjoying soccer. It was a stand alone statement, which seemed to imply that you believed his antipathy towards the sport would mean he would never build such a thing for that reason alone, no matter what, and I countered by saying that if (again a word meaning that I wasn't saying it was definitely true) you accepted the premise posited in the post you replied to, how it was possible to make money from such a thing, he would definitely build it, even if he showed open animosity towards soccer. I at no point said I strongly believe he'll build a stadium or a museum/HoF, I just said he wouldn't turn down a chance to make a buck off soccer if he thought a buck could be made. I also have to say I found it amusing when you said "Read these forums often enough and you will find many posts where...", when you just recently admitted it wasn't your fault you missed comments made by people, because you didn't know people posted comments during games in this forum.
1) Just because Kraft could make a profit does not mean he would definitely build it. There are other factors including the amount of profit, and the initial investment to attain that profit. Kraft could invest in any number of businesses and make a profit. He might even invest in a business that would earn less profit than a soccer museum if he found that work to be more enjoyable. I think Kraft could absolutely turn down the opportunity to build a soccer museum even if he thought it could be profitable. He can't invest in every potentially profitable venture that he comes across. 2) Anti-Kraft posts can be found in nearly ever thread and it doesn't compare to half a dozen posts or so that were posted after a game in a thread titled "Pre-match." I guess we can continue playing the IF game and state that if the thread was properly marked, that I definitely would have found those few specific posts, which doesn't compare in quantity with the number of posts dedicated to Kraft's apathy to soccer.
I don't know a whole lot about the linguistic structure of the Albanian language, but I am sure there is an equivalent word for "if." Yeah, one of those businesses he could even think about investing in would be a soccer team, crazy as that idea might sound! Since I was the one who first mentioned this idea, I will type this out very slowly so you might be able to understand... It isn't about a "soccer museum" or any specific thing like that that he theorhetically could invest in. The idea is to have other revenue-generating drivers as part of the stadium complex. Many mid-level modest clubs have function rooms for business conferences and meetings, wedding receiptions or whatever else you might think of. These drive revenue for the club and bring people to the stadium on days when there isn't a game. If there could be something like this -- soccer museum or otherwise -- that would make the overall project more likely to succeed, it would make the whole thing more viable.
Tom, I think you meant The Elbownian language? And whats this about viability? Tailgates have become more viable, and the rest will follow. Seee you there!
What is really exciting is that we are down to probably <15 posts until....... Revolution Stadium Groundbreaking "12-24 months" Part VI
No cup holders OR pencil holders!! Martin Lawrence summarized the lack of cup holders best in Bad Boys (about the 44 second mark): [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5a4JIh_i28"]bad boys 1 cupholder - YouTube[/ame]
I happened to run into the mayor of Somerville the other day, and I asked him what the status was on the stadium. He's says they're still working on it. Apparently the appetite is there on both sides, but implementation on that particular site is difficult, with a lot of moving parts. But I came away from the discussion at least moderately hopeful.
Immediately following, another resident approached the mayor and asked him about his plan to solve world hunger. He says they're still working on it. Apparently the appetite is there on both sides, but implementation is, well, difficult, with a lot of moving parts. He felt hopeful after the conversation.
A third asked the mayor what his plan for world peace was and his response was "we're trying real hard" and expected he'd have something to share in the next 12-24 months. The result was yet another hopeful, satisfied resident.
Wasn't that a song by XTC around the early '90s? Well, there will always be an appetite for hunger. As the king in the movie "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" once said on his son's wedding day after the knights rampaged through the castle, killing quite a few people including the best man, "There's no need to bicker and argue over things like 'oo killed 'oo. This is a happy occasion." Gotta look for those silver linings wherever they are!
OK, I would think when people talk about making a profit here, they're talking about hypothetical situations where it's implied that the profit is one that Kraft would see as 'worthwhile', or worth the effort. We're not talking about something that would take 100 years before it became profitable, would take a lot of work to then yield $1 more than what was invested, was illegal, or any other arcane reason that would obviously lead someone to not invest in something that would return more than what was invested. And we're also not talking about an investment that is more than he'd be willing/able to make. This is what's known as a given. Uh, I know that Kraft is a successful businessman, but do you think he's some sort of financial genius or wizard, that he just had tons of opportunities where all he'd have to do is just put a little money into it, and he's guaranteed to make tons of money? Do you think he just spends his days looking at all these guaranteed money makers, and all he's doing is thinking 'ooh, this sounds cute, I want to make a fat profit on this project', or 'eh, yeah I could make a ton of easy money with that, but it's not my favorite subject' or 'I might like to make bank off of that, but only if they change the colors of the final project, I don't like that shade of blue'? We're also not talking about him investing in something new, we're talking about something he already owns. Which begs the question, how do you logically square this view of yours with the fact that he owns a soccer team? I'm pretty sure he bought the team, rather than inheriting it or something, so how do you fit him owning this team in with your conviction that he would never do/own something he doesn't enjoy? I believe that the general view is, people would actually be willing to lose/spend money to do things that they enjoy, but get into things they don't enjoy or see as arduous, like going to work, in order to make money. Just so we're clear, the hypothetical situation that was mentioned was, hypothetically, he builds a stadium and if he added some sort of soccer related museum/HoF, he would make more money. So you're saying that given these hypothetical parameters, he would choose not to make the extra money by adding a soccer HoF/Museum to the soccer stadium he just built for his soccer team, because he doesn't enjoy soccer, and he doesn't really like making money on things he doesn't enjoy. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Really, not all the Kraft related posts in this forum are glowingly positive? No way! This is an amazing revelation, almost as shocking as some other stuff I heard recently: the sky is blue, the Pope is Catholic, and 9 > 7. I'm not sure who said otherwise, or what the existence of such posts has to do with a discussion on whether or not Kraft would choose to make money on something, but I'll have to write this fascinating fact down so that I'm sure to remember it.
