And while Clavijo had his shortcomings as a coach, he has found a role where he can put his experience in the game to good use. Good for him. Too bad we can't tap in to the network of ex-MLS players, some of them with the right kind of skills for scouting and identifying potential players. Evans Wise is working for Seattle, scouting Caribbean players, and since being an ex-Rev seems to be the key criteria for hiring, you'd think they might have thought of him...
Scouting costs money though.... The Krafts are like a good one-liner I heard about MBAs once, "they know the cost of everything but the value of nothing."
Yeah, but the cost of not scouting is even higher. Kinda like bitching about the cost of bringing your car in for an oil change every 3 months. Screw that, I'm going to save that money... Then when your engine blows down the road you look pretty foolish. I heard that same line about ultra-rich kids in college. Come to think of it, some of those are the same people.
It's been going on for years here ... and it continues. If someone says the Revs don't do something, the response is always "Well, X team doesn't either." Or "well, we're not the only team that hasn't." At some point, as fans, don't we want to see our team be first at ... SOMETHING?
