Again a mention that Cassio will not be on the trip because of visa issues. So, is the assumption that he will not take part in any of the preseason or just the Bermuda part?

That doesn't seem to compute. Freddy wasn't playing on national or even regional teams 6 years ago. He'd just barely gotten into the country and was playing for an obscure club team in Potomac, MD.

BTW, like how the article starts out about how he's into BC, but the further you go, the more you realize he's really looking to max out the offer to go pro (probably abroad).

The numbers don't quite add up - but close. Charlie is a U-19 (officially). When Freddy played club, he played with the current U-18 group, first with Potomac then Bethesda. I beleive the first year Freddy played with Potomac was with the U-12's (when he was a U-9) but they didn't achieve recognition til the next year at U-13 when they won regionals. That is when Freddy started to really get noticed. So the timing isn't that far off.

Anyway, I don't see how Charlie stays in school for much longer. He's a pretty smart kid but he's basically been in CA for the past 2 months training with the U-20's. Academically, I don't see him keeping up.

Its clear he will go pro if the offer is right. So far (from what I hear) MLS has just offered P40 with minimum wage (hence his comment "A BC education is worth more than any offer right now"). He's been noticed by a lot of Euro clubs - the question is whether they will spend the kind of money he wants on an undersized striker from the US.

    Island retreat for Revs

    Carlito update:
'Llamosa, who spent much of last fall and early winter training in Colombia, said he is getting closer to his pre-injury form. `(My knee) feels good, but I'm not 100 percent yet,'' he said. ``My leg is getting stronger, and I'm working out every day. I think I can get to the level where I was last year before I got injured. I really only started playing two weeks ago.'''

    Oooy.

I really must be missing something.
Because this preseason is sounding like a disaster to me.

Llamosa's enough of a pro, and an experienced enough player, not to make unfounded promises or prognostications with respect to his fitness; I'd much rather his candor and honesty on the issue than somethig else.

Yes, the Revolution are probably still looking for a center-back, but they're not in a depserate position... yet.

Far be it for me to call Steve Nicol a liar, but if I could only get this @&^%$#* streaming video thing to work, you would clearly see this clip of Nicol not only with his trousers burning, but indisputable evidence of him spreading a blanket on the grass in a park, whilst carrying a basket of what looks to be sandwiches, some fruit, perhaps some cheese, and some kind of beverage, most likely beer. Unfortunately, the quality of the clip is not good enough to be certain, but it is abundantly clear that Nicol did in fact come for a picnic.

I rest my case, your honour

    Cheers,
