first guy i thought of, second was JPA. we need one of each on every MLS team.

ha! i forgot to add that on the first goal i was talking about Chelito Delgado shaking off Michael Stephens for the cross. each MLS team also needs a Chelito-type.

so at least one Chelito and one Henry and we're already doubling the max salary cap for every team.

Lets be fair, most MLS teams DO have one of those; with that level of skill and control. Hell Barnes would have that control and he may or may not be a full time starter for us. As would Camargo. As did a younger Ching. Problem isn't one of those, the problem is players 8 or 9 through 20 on MLS teams are nowhere near the quality of their counterparts.

i agree with the second part about the lack of quality depth, but that most MLS teams already have someone with that level of skill and control is debate-able. i mean DeNigris by La Liga MX standards isn't that agile, heck he isn't even T. Henry or JPA-in his prime smooth, and he knocked that down.

i think we do both agree that one of the main issue is $$$, because its a reflection of the quality of roster that you can purchase. can't be Club America on a Estudiante Tecos budget.

Yeah and DeNegris could probably successfully convert that about 40% of the time. :) I would take the top 7 guys from MLS teams against the top 7 from Liga MX and I think the result would be strikingly close. MLS teams end up with holes on the field (don't even talk about off the bench) after those seven though; and your right it is money - both to acquire better players but also to keep the talent like Holden and Cameron closer to home. Frankly I think Liga MX key differentiator is not that they can pay 18 guys more money, but that they can pay enough to keep their young talent home (big name stars aside).

    along those lines:

i brought a Monterrey, Mx out-of-towner to the San Jose game and gave him a brief prep on our roster since it was his first MLS/Dynamos game. he asked which one of our players was the best and which one had the best pedigree and i answered G. Barnes to both questions. he went direct to our seats and i went to fetch drinks. when i came back Barnes had the ball at his feet and i said "that's him" and he responded "i know, i only needed 2 minutes to figure out that he was the most skilled compared to the other players". :D

i say a tripling of the current salary cap to approx $7-9M would be a good start to begin to compete with La Liga Mxteams in CCL. i've said it before, imagine what Dom could do with $5M more to spend on annual salaries.

Yeah but imagine what a shitshow some of the other owners and coaches would create with that kind of scratch.

Find an extra $100M in revenue/year and I'm sure the owners would consider it.

However, if the problems RSL faced aren't unique...well, maybe they wouldn't consider it.

Monterrey will be looking to become the 2nd team in CONCACAF history to win this tournament for 3 consecutive years since Cruz Azul did it back in 1969, 1970, and 1971.

Most MTY fans are straight douches I prefer Santos and especially because of Gomez, its hard to root against a class guy.

The reason I picked Monterrey to win over Santos Laguna is because Santos defeated our Dynamo and Monterrey have not. Also, I don't like seeing a club beating my club in any competition/tournament and then celebrating it with a championship trophy. I've seen enough of that already.
