I'd take Plymouth. Most of coastal New England in exchange for Western Mass? In a heartbeat.

If you're going to give all the new states new names, might as well rename the country.
America? USA? (not initials, the actual name! :D) Columbia? Estados Unidos? (No offense to Colombia, or the Estados Unidos de Mexico! :D)
Also, why not wait, until Canada splits up, then have a talk with the western provinces? Or, the Maritimes?
P.S. How would the most populous Native American tribes feel, about being left out of the renaming process?

Loving it. Dearborn rocks even though we get Northern Indiana. Northern Californians will be loving El Dorado.

Can we make this a Constitutional Amendment?

It's perfection seeing that I have always thought the Metro/Red Bulls should have been named Hudson United.

    Take a walk, upstate.

I'm all for Mexico taking over Texas, can we rush that prediction?

Piedmont has made some improvement- lost a good bit of Middle and South Georgia and gained only a small negative in Western South Carolina.

Bayou took a BIG hit. Now New Orleanians (?) have to live with not only the rest of Louisiana, but East Texas, a lot of Mississippi and southern Arkansas.

Chesapeake has too much of Virginia.

Dearborn looks good to go, Mohawk is screwed.

A South Biscayne with the border running in an east-west direction right around Daytona would save South Florida from the comparatively backwards panhandle. Yeah, I know Gainesville and Daytona aren't writing-home material either, but a line needs to be there somewhere.

Carolina's a weird one. Culturally, North and South Carolina aren't very much alike despite sharing a border. Carolina really ought to return Western North Carolina to Albemarle and then encompass all of Georgia that isn't Piedmont, and go into Florida as well all the way down to my proposed South Biscayne border.

Talladego (my state)? It's beyond help, both geographically and culturally.

I think the intent was basically "the crackers in upstate South Carolina aren't too different from the crackers in western North Carolina."

Yeah, that blows. The whole Gulf coast from the LA-TX border east through the Florida panhandle should be its own region, since the southern parts of Louisiana, Mississippi & Alabama are somewhat less odious than the northern parts.

I can't say that about Alabama. Your region would include Birmingham, Montgomery, Selma and Mobile, all of which pale in comparison to Huntsville, which for a few generations got the benefit of transients from all over the world. We used to say growing up that we kept the state's culture and SAT scores from looking exactly like Mississippi's or South Carolina's. That said, even Huntsville's felt the downsizing of the space program and as transients bore children who grow up as traditional Southerners, we're not as urbane as we were 20 years ago.

Absolutely. Let Richmond and everything else south of Fredricksburg rot with Albermarle or Appalachia.

Why is Alaska split into 2 states? There aren't really enough people for one state as it is.

    Indeed.

El Dorado would be f'cking awesome.

Locating the capitol in Placerville (in El Dorado county!) would be a good compromise between Sacramento and Carson City.

I wonder, if we get most of Nevada, do we also get the legal gambling and prostitution?

As long as we don't legalize pot. Because if pot's legalized, then the economy of several of El Dorado's northern counties will crash. Gotta keep those prices high! ;)

I drove thru part of that area on my way to Greensboro a few years ago. Kept thinking the rocks were going to roll down on my car.
