Part of this, I'm not sure how relevant it is, but I have biggish feet (Size 13 US). Like without shoes I can easily kick it 44+metres (43yards) but with shoes on, the best I seem to do is roughly 37metres (40yards). And this is just when the ball is still (eg a goalkick sort of thing).

Also with shoes on I struggle to get 'under' the ball as I kick it, esp at full power.

Anyway anybody know how I can improve that? I've got relatively strong legs, so I don't think it's merely a weakness thing.

I don't reall understand how you can kick it farther without boots so I'm not sure how to help you....:confused:

The 7 meter difference with boots and without indicates that it is a technique problem. Can't identify the problem without being there (might be related to the boots or not). Ask someone you respect (coach, team mate, relative) for advice.

Yep, what ranova says. All about technique. You don't need hugely strong legs. You just need to have correct technique.

Youtube it, you'll see where you're going wrong.

Thanks for the replies guys. I got on the youtube vids haha as well. Found out my backswing was too far away from my planting leg (too abducted from the body). So I was sacrificing power as well as lift because it meant I wasn't able to lean back quite enough when I aimed to get more height (sometimes I did get height, but it was more coincidence that I accidentally did it right). My kicks seem more improved today as it was a fairly easy thing to fix. Distance will come as I get used to it.

I had a similar thing too it turned out I had adjusted my kick and I was swinging my leg almost to the side of me losing all power.

I had a pair of boots that were size a size too big and when I wore them I had a hard time getting totally under the ball. Maybe if your cleats dont fit right?

Most of the time when I see players struggling to get good power on their kicks it's because they are looking at the target instead of the ball while striking it. This might not be the issue for you, but try to focus on a single point on the ball and watch your foot hit that point while you kick.

It's something I had to remind my players just this week during practice due to coming back rusty from not playing during winter. There were lots of little technique corrections, but this was a simple one that helped quickly.
