--- And he's not the only one. The voices for a regional league are getting stronger and stronger. I think we'll see this idea come to fruition in the next 5 years or so.
I'd like to see this happen very soon. We could use any money from this league to help out our Premijer Liga. Not only that, but this become a league for our younger players to pay in and develop as future talents. Also, top teams, such as Zeljeznicar, would be able to pay outside of just the BPL for once. I think a regional league would be a very good idea.
The income from the matches and attendance would be significantly increased but also the world wide recognition of our players the overall quality of the play. I think only one or two of our teams would make it in a Balkan league, maybe 3 in a Yugoslav one.
Yeah I say second place BPL team/Kup winners should get into the league. It leaves the first place BPL team with the CL to worry about.
I would much rather see an all Yugoslav league rather than some sort of joint venture with Bulgaria, Greece, or Romania. I think it would be a much easier pill to swallow for the clubs involved and there is a tradition of rivalry and a rich sense of history between the clubs. Such a league could also attract bigger sponsors.
I'm not sure. To be honest, I don't see how it would help growth and stuff. But what I want to see is a football academy from Zeljo, like a mini version of La Masia. Nike and Adidas sponsors for the kits would be good. How would EL qualifying be regulated? Also, there would be no contenders to win that League other than Zeljo and FKS. I doubt they'd get past Dinamo or CZ in qualifying either.
Yeah that's the problem. That and the violence. If not for the violence, I can live with the regional league, but I can already see disaster on the stadium. But like you said, our players would get more recognition, and clubs' incomes would rise.. but how many of our clubs will take part in CL/Europa League?
Exactly the violence would be out of control. And i'm not sure even if one would be in the CL probably just 2 in Europa.
How about if this became a Cup sort of thing instead of a league and the winner gets a high qualifying CL spot? It'd give all the clubs still the European spots in their respective league to focus on, yet aim to win this Cup.
this is a good idea, you know what else would be cool? An Eastern European Tournament involving national teams...orgasm.
Honestly.. I'd rather have a regional league. The current state of the BPL is pretty horrendous. To those who think the violence will be a problem, we already have experienced the violence in our own liga, so I don't think we will have an issue on this since we are pretty much accustomed to this lol. Either increase police, or ban away fans. Thats the only way to beat this.
^ Actually you have a good point. There's already violence. It would hardly be any different. In fact, I'd reckon there would be a bigger police force given the speculation of more violence.
We still would see Bosnian clubs obtain some strength, plus stadiums would be filled.. I mean which game will attract more attendence: Zeljo vs Crvena Zvijezda or Zeljo vs Slavija.
The main thing for me is the sponsors. Its a pretty decent market, maybe around 30 mil. total. That would attract some decent sponsors. The stadiums would get rebuilt for the top 3 clubs in Bosnia at least and the money would be much better. We would get more out of a regional league than out of European competition like this.
for me, it's all about keeping European spots (CL/EL). If we can keep the oones we have, then I would be OK with this league. If we lose some, it's like losing money, so no point in that....
The market and Bosnian clubs will fix themselves and adjust to a different system. There will be more fans and the price of tickets will rise slightly, along with television deals. The price of our players will also rise for three reasons - no more half year or one year contracts, league is more competitive and will catch the eye of big clubs outside Yugo, and we align ourselves with Croatian and Serbian leagues.. they are known to rack up dozen millions every transfer window. All this will give the incentive for private entities to invest in our clubs. There's some serious revenue potential.
If you don't break through to the group stages, the money from Europe is minimal. We've been going into Europe for years now with minimal change.
I'd be down to see this happen, more investments, more recognition, better sponsors, higher level of competition, better youth academies, more scouts coming to watch the games, better bonding with ex-Yugo countries and many more things. So that's a Yes from me.
I saw this thread and didn't read anything. Sorry, too lazy. What is the idea here? A regional league as in a Herzegovina league and a Bosnian league? Or as in a ex-Yugoslav league?
