Judging by the constant welcomes to referees from other states in the assignor's social media feeds, I'm wondering if any of us local refs will actually be working these games in the end!
I thought about that too. I passed up other tournaments for Annandale. Also, we don't know if other states are bringing a crew or 4 crews. I think Maryland is bringing 16, and some Maryland guys (myself included) are going "independent"
I did as well when I first put in availability - although I'm now into the referee academy. Judging by the long list of e-mails on that list -- I think there will be plenty of games. The tournament website lists 444 teams applied already from Mexico, Canada, Ireland and various US states mainly in midwest, mid-Atlantic or Northeast
