I realise that of the masses ( ) of Blackburn Rovers posters in this forum, I am generally perceived as a pessimist. Our recent form, however, has led me to believe my own words now more than ever. We can't get a point away, and we're now struggling to get points at home. There's only one outcome when these two issues combine, and that's relegation. Am I the only one, or are the rest of you sh!tting yourselves about what's going to happen come the end of the season? Revelian The Fearful
Normally I'd be more worried, but I've seen how bad the teams below us are. With 4 games against the teams below us, we should be able to pick up enough points. The Bolton and Everton matches are the real question marks for me (I'm writing off the City, United, and Arsenal games).
Parp I'm hoping there are teams below us who are worse. Unfortunately this reminds me a bit of last time we went down, the teams below us picking up the odd battling win with us not being able to see where the next win will come from. The Arsenal result gave me some hope, and if we can do Brum we'll be looking OK ... unfortunately I said the same about Blackpool and a few others lately. We're just not winning. I honestly haven't a clue whether we'll survive or not, it's in the balance right now. Come on Rovers FFS! Oh, hello again.
Well, judging from yesterdays match it will be lucky if we stay up. We have only one player capable of creating and scoring chances and that is junior. luckily for us there could well be 3 worse teams than us and we will survive by the skin of our teath. massive changes in the summer what ever happens from top to bottom
The owners tuck a massive gamble with sacking Sam and replacing him with Kean who has no managerial experience what so ever. now I hope we survive and we can just put this season down as a trial run with them. If not they will have to suffer the back lash that follows relegation
I agree. I mean Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Torres and Rooney would never want to play for Blackburn if we were in The Championship. Revelian
well, it's looking more and more likely we will be relegated. all the signs are there and Kean is way out if his depth. we finally turned on him yesterday at goodison. I will support my team through thick and thin but enough is enough. Venkys sack the clown
I agree. Kean should never have been given the job, but on the other hand, Big Sam should not have been sacked. Revelian
If Rovers can beat West Ham and Wolves they will be safe. Not a good record versus West Ham but we can only hope. I fear it will come down to the final day and if this is the case surely Wolves will put up a more passionate fight than the players Rovers have now. Returning to the prem is possible in one season if they can keep hold of Hoilett, N'Zonzi, Olsson, Jones and maybe even Roberts. Say goodbye to Robinson, Samba, Pedersen, Dunn and Nelson. The rest of the team I could care less about including Cruz who can go back to Man City.
Carey's Corner takes a look at the relegation battle in England with a prediction for the three teams going down http://www.soccerbanter.org/careys-corner.html
Sacking Sam turned into a huge mistake, selecting Kean turned into an even bigger mistake. I've come to terms with the fact we're going down this season.
I pretty much came to terms with it when Phil Jones missed that sitter of a header the other day against City.
That victory against the trotters came at the right time. I feel that anything less than a win in that match would have meant certain relegation, considering the matches that lie ahead of us for the remainder of the season. Revelian
A draw away to West Ham. We'll know more in a couple of weeks, I guess. Samba was incredible. He saved that point for us, there's no doubting. I guess he'll be off to Villa or Liverpool in the summer, then. Revelian
3 points there would have been nice, but nonetheless it looks like their chances of winning the Championship next season are starting to diminish.
Looking at the remaining schedules I feel good about finishing in front of West Ham and Blackpool. Its going to come down to finishing ahead of Wolves, Birmingham, or Wigan.
Two games left. ManUre wanting to win the title, and Wolves, desperate to stay up. It's going to be very difficult for us to get any points from these final two matches. I think we're going to have to rely on the teams below us to keep losing. Revelian
Blackpool or Wigan would have to get 4 pts out of their last 2 matches and Rovers get 0 for us not to stay up since our goal differential is far superior to theirs. Blackpool are home to Bolton and close at Old Trafford Wigan are home to West Ham and away at Stoke I'd say Blackpool's chances of getting 4 pts are pretty low, but Wigan, on the other hand, probably will get at least 4.
Just to round out the relegation candidates (I'm assuming due to GD that West Ham can't pass us): Wolves (Need 3 to our 0) - At Sunderland, host us Birmingham (need 1 to our 0) - Host Fulham, at Spurs I can see Wolves beating us in the final game after both sides lose next week. Birmingham could lose both games, but I wouldn't be shocked if they drew Fulham next week. We really need Birmingham or Wigan to stumble.
