I can only hear the griping about the lousy 'plastic' turf causing players to get stuck to the ground.
Great now that's stuck in my head. That reminds me there's a few sets from that movie I need to buy for my kids.
So I am just re-posting what RSL SoapBox and friends have been putting together. Apparently Hansen has 2 other options in Oceanside: http://www.rslsoapbox.com/2014/3/20/5530746/aggregating-the-info-about-the-rumored-oceanside-sites One is El Corazon http://www.ci.oceanside.ca.us/gov/ecd/propmgmt/planning/elcorazon/default.asp The other is called the Pavilion http://retail.thomasent.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=180&Itemid=250 Wes Brown put together a map that shows all 3 sites: http://www.arcgis.com/home/webmap/v...23&extent=-120.8386,31.7689,-114.7742,34.9252
Nah, the Oceancrime STDs. Uniforms looks like....um, well, um, well, I can't say since this is a family-friendly forum. Use your imagination, dirty minds.
Oceanside is listed in the San Diego metro area by the Census guys. But the North County Area (Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos and Escondido) together have 800,000 people, that would put them in the 60's in size, bigger than Ogden or Boise and knock San Diego down from 17th to 23rd in size. This population alone is sufficient to justify a D2 or D3 team even without the commuters from the North or SD. Sudberry Properties is under contract with the city (which owns the old sand pit) for the El Corazon site as developer, with the first "tenant" to be site for part of the SD Surf Cup Soccer tournaments. Has any body gone to it? The grading for the temporary field is supposed to be underway. I have found little info on what is really going on or it DLH is in contact with then.
Last I heard was from a SLTrib article a couple of weeks ago. It was mentioned that they were still looking at SD but they were also looking at a team here in SLC as well. http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/sports/57858304-77/rsl-team-academy-players.html.csp
really wish this whole fiasco could have happened before the town halls so we could get a better insight into plan B.
If they stay in Oceanside, which isn't a given at this point. Now they are talking "Salt Lake Valley" as well which could mean anywhere really.
Sandy makes sense, but the change in direction from stadium/academy/Oceanside to just stick with what you got seems quite the switch don't you think? Here's one alternate in Utah:
Not a bad idea Prime. But is 2000 seats big enough for a USL Pro team? Maybe I am way off on this but if the tickets were a decent price I think they could get more people than that to games here in the valley.
La Gals2 play at their track and field stadium and get 1000 or so. I'm sure 2k can work. USL can just rewrite the rules. I'd go. SLC RAC opens next summer.
