MLS Rumors is absolute and total crap. It is the Platonic ideal of poop. All that participates in shiteness only reflects part of the whole and indescribable craptitude that is MLS Rumors.
I didn't think that Blanco's salary was anything too much. If the FO can't pony up the dough to pay that much, we may never see a DP worth having. Not that that would be a terrible thing.
blanco's the second highest paid player in MLS. i think its something like 2.5mil a year. thats not exactly spare change.
Yeah, exactly. Not that much (compared to other soccer leagues and American sports outside of soccer). Look at the type of DP-caliber players who are likely to make an impact, and then look at their salaries. If a team isn't willing to pay 2 mil a year for a player, they're probably going to end up with a Denilson.
Garth also mentioned that all scouting has been done and its a matter of negotiating deals now, so there is offers on the table and its a waiting game. Also something interesting he mentioned was that he was first in contact with Robbie Russell back in November of '07.
Sorry about that, He said it was a possibility to have 1-2 new players by the end of the transfer window.
I noticed that the Borgetti bit which was on MLS-rumors and linked above isn't working now. If you google-navigate to the site, it says nothing about RSL or Borgetti. Hmm.... stinks to me. HOWEVER... I was able to see the photo before it disappeared and it's a shot from behind but it certainly could have been him. The photo looks to have been taken from the Lehi training fields.
For the most part, your right. But all of a sudden, MLSRumors aka Carrott-top's mind, has been dead on, for a lot of new rumors. Maybe there is something to this...
Okay - conspiracy theory time: What if mls-rumors.net FOR ONCE were correct, had a leaked photo of Borgetti from a closed practice in Lehi, and RSLFO saw the picture posted and sent them a notice to take it down. This means that Garth was lying to everyone tonight in order to protect their interest in a particular asset. Oh, and JFK was killed by Sasquatch. Eh? Eh? Any believers?

Or...http://www.tinfoilonmyhead.com/ I think with Garth's statements, that should kill this speculation.
No! A denial is PROOF! Amazing, though, that we can have this discussion and take it seriously, believing that Borghetti would come to Salt Lake City.
I'm sorry, what statements of Garth's would that be? Is this like the one about Cordoba's quality signing?
The Borghetti rumor is back up on MLS Rumors w/ picture (though it's not claiming it's a done deal): http://www.mls-rumors.net/2008/07/incoming-jared-borghetti-to-real-salt_30.html As I recall, didn't we have a discussion about this picture a week ago and we determined that it was Acosta, correct?
I don't remember that conversation, but after looking at the picture I am giving the rumor much less credence, and I wasn't giving it much before. Whoever leaked this photo was having a fun time with mls-rumors. The thing may still happen and completely surprise us, but this photo doesn't seem to play any part in it.
I looked at a few pictures online and this is definitely NOT Borgetti. How is it so obvious? Borgetti wears Nike boots...
James Edwards on Des News: Talking about transfers, Makes it pretty clear we aren't looking at Borgetti
That's definitely Adam, he of the bright red shoes. I don't know what color boots Borghetti wears...they may be red...but it's not him wearing them in that picture. But at least all the non-RSL folks who read mls-rumors might put some thought to it.
I thought that it was closer to $5 mil. $2.5 is very doable for a Mexican super-star. He would probably do a lot more for ticket sells, marketing, sponsorship, and wins than Adu did. He would also be around a lot more. It would also give us more national/international exposure.
