Suazo is fantastic. Very entertaining to watch.

I have made the same statement at least 5 times for the last 6 months in various threads but no one seemed to take the bait. Chile has a wealth of young talent. Back before Mark Gonzalez was bought by Liverpool I was hoping we would pick him up as a defender, but nothing than a year later he goes from Colo Colo to Liverpool. Another player that would be magic for us to have is Jorge "el Mago" Valdivia. Last I saw he was playing in Brazil but was looking for a move to spain. The guy is magic with the ball, if he and Suazo were on the team together I smell a championship. Mati Fernandez was another Colo-Colino that I was hoping we would snag up before someone else did but hence he is know in spain as well.

Is this thread getting a little off-topic from Robbie Russell? Shouldn't this be on a rumors thread, or "Transfers I Would Like RSL to Make" or something?

Back to R & R... I'm excited for Russell suiting up for RSL. I hope he is on the bench tonight and is able to come on for at least 15-20 minutes to show us fans what he's got!

The transfer and rumor thread has been locked so it can't be put there.

I really should have said "the '09 season".

Rent Borgetti for a few months now. Win now. then win later.

The roster will have to be reworked when we play on a real field next season anyway.

Based on tonight's game, it looks like Beltran's playing time will diminish...

We will possibly see Russell as CB with Borchers in RSL's next match vs. Houston. Olave will be suspended. Heaven forbid that Mantilla will take Olave's place.

That will be as good an opportunity as any to see what he can do.

    Baptism by fire...

With three weeks to work into the position, it won't be too bad.

I thought Russell do a good job tonight. He had some nice exchanges with Williams.

I agree. I thought he looked pretty good out there. You could tell that the turf messed him up a couple of times, but he won't have to deal with that much longer.

RR seemed to have the issues you'd expect in his first game with the team (namely difficulty with the turf which he'd only even trained on once, and some of those "zigged when he should have zagged" things). But he was very solid defensively and was not afraid to get forward. 17 minutes into his RSL career I'd say he looks like a good pickup and will play significant minutes. Also he seems very happy to be here......an interview will be posted later.

  16. After the game I saw Robbie walking out and I said to him, "Robbie, you're a keeper." He looked puzzled for a second and I realized that he might be processing the word "keeper" and thinking, "No, I'm a midfielder." But after a second he smiled and said, "Thanks, I really hope I am."

Borgetti sounds like a dead subject from Garth. He said they talked to him about 6 - 9 months ago, and he was asking for money in Blanco's range.

6-9 months ago, Uncle Dave hadn't given the go ahead to open the purse strings, no? It could be worth it IMO.

I don't see the photo either. MLS Rumors is reporting it as a done deal, however. I haven't been a reader there for an extremely long time, but it seems that when the done deal tag is put on rumor it is done. Who knows? Very interesting.

I listened to the coaches show as well and by the way Garth talked about the subject it sounded like it would never happen.
