    What do you expect from Del Nido, he an Lolo will soon be behind bars and maybe cellmates!

    In the meantime if Malaga and Er Glorioso win this weekend then teams from Andalucia will be in the first three positions in the liga, which will be a historic first!

    The game was not televised nor broadcast on RNE or canal sur and there was no way for me to follow the match at work streaming Radio Betis.

    1-0 loss and Pepe Mel was not a happy camper at the press conference tonight. Basically he said the team was AWOL the first 45 minutes. Benhat came on in the second half and the teams play did a 180 but Pereira missed a couple of goals and Moya the Getafe GK had a great night. Either way the streak is over and the team can focus on the upcoming Levante match at home before heading north to the Bernabeu to take on the Merengues who currently only sit in 5th place. Betis remains in sole possession of first place in the liga!

    0-1 victory for Levante whose only goal was scored by ex-Betico Juanlu on a shot that Casto should have had but because he came off the line and let the gap between the post and his body, the ball deflected off of him back toward the goal line instead of bouncing forward had he been where he should have been.

    My thoughts, there is a reason that Levante has only given up 3 goals all season long. There defense was rock solid and very well organized and Betis seemed to only try to penetrate through the front of the box or using their wingers. Levante knew exactly how to handle both of these penetrations, the first by shutting down the lanes forcing Er Glorioso to either pass the ball to the wingers or push it back for a mid to try to find another opening which there were none because Levante plugged every hole up well. As for the wingers all the crosses were either handled by the keeper or headed out by the defenders without a Betico getting a piece of the ball in the box. The only three Betis chances were late in the first half during a scramble in the Levante box when Pereiras shot was stopped by Manua, the give and go in the second half which the Betis Juanma couldn't get off the shot after breaking free and finally in injury time when Manua got part of his body in front of the shot to deflect Nano's shot which was going in.

    Bottom line is that in both Betis losses they could not turn the game around after giving up that first goal and that could be a serious problem in this liga. They controlled 70% of the play but then again never looked too dangerous for the Levante defense and Santa Cruz is still not in top form.

    They have a week to regroup as next weekend they will be playing the Merengues in Madrid.

    0 - Real Betis
    Casto; Chica, Mario (Amaya, m. 6), Dorado, Nacho; Juanma, Iriney, Beñat, Jefferson Montero (Pozuelo, m. 46); Pereira (S. Sevilla, m. 60), Santa Cruz..

    1- Levante
    Munúa; Javi Venta, Ballesteros, Nano, Del Horno; Xavi Torres, Iborra; Valdo (P. López, m. 84), Barkero (Farinós, m. 63), Juanlu (Rubén Suárez, m. 73); Koné.

    Goles
    0-1, m. 33: Juanlu.

    Here is the match review in English and below that the Levante goal.

    Looks like Pepe Mel will be using the following players that he has been using all week in practice in his starting XI:

    A 4-4-2 formation as follows:

    Casto;
    Chica, Amaya, Dorado, Nacho;
    Vadillo, Iriney, Beñat, Salva Sevilla;

    Sorry for the late post but just got back home from a weekend in the Sierras and watched the match. Evenly matched game up to 23rd minute when the Merengues began to step on the accelerator but Er Glorioso held on to a 0-0 draw at the half, Ronaldo missed a couple of easy chances but then again that's Ronaldo. Brain fart at start of second half by my Betis gave up the first goal. Second goal by Kaka was a beautiful piece of art with CR7 setting up the pass and Kaka curled past Casto for the score. Great goal by Molina and yes my pulse jumped a few beats figuring Er Glorioso could tie this one but another serious brain fart and 35 seconds after the 2-1 it was 3-1 and then and only then I knew that Er Gorioso was on their way to a 3rd loss in a row and the merengues would get their 4 points. The 4-1 margin was excessive for the play on the pitch but they did deserve the 3 points. I sure as hell hope that Pepe Mel give the team one hell of workout come Monday for their mental lapses during the match.

    Er Glorioso drops another 3 points at home to a newly promoted Rayo 0-2 in the match they should have won in the first half but didn't as Rayo scored late in the match to secure the victory.

    Er Glorioso remains in 7th with 12 points and visits Espanyol (12 pts) this Thursday at 2000 hrs CET, 1100 hrs PST. The match will be televised on ESPN Deportes live.

    1-0 loss to Espanyol in a game that should have ended up as a draw. Pandiani scored in the 75th minute on a great pass as he get by the Betis defender and buried the shot.

    That's 5 matches in the row without a win and more importantly they have only scored one goal in those 5 matches which is probably the most disturbing part of this slump.

    Disheartening loss at the Sardinero yesterday to lowly Racing who won for the first time this season against a Betis team that has now lost 6 matches in a row and has only scored one goal in those six matches. Two posts in the first half and that was about it as this team can not find the back of the net if their life depended on it.

    Here is the match review in English:

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/report?id=323937&league=ESP.1&cc=5901

    Next week they are at home against Malaga.

    The only good news was that even though Betis lost to Racing, Sevilla tonight lost at home against the cellar dwellars Granada 1-2 with the Granadinos snagging the 3 points in injury time!

    Er Glorioso will be at home this Saturday 5 November 2000 hrs against CD Malaga. The Malaguenhos started off fast and have faded of late (WLLLWD) in last 6 years, but are still a respectable 6th place with 16 points. Er Glorioso is currently in 12th place with 12 points and we know what their last 6 games have been like (LLLLLL). The game will not be shown on any US channels or ESPN360.com. Tickets have been reduced at 50% for season ticket holders who want to buy additional seats and the cheapest ticket for the public is 25 Euros.

    All we are saying, is give us a goal!

    Bottom line they outplayed and had more then the majority of possession then Villareal but when you can't buy a goal you are not going to win.

    Betis lost today to Villareal and has now gone 472 minutes that is over 5 complete games without a goal and they have now earned 1 point out of a possible 24 points and have not won a game since 21 September (4th week).
    They are only 4 points out of the relegation zone.

    Yeah, but if the defense was solid, then it would have been a 0-0 draw.

    You can't avoid relegation playing 0-0 matches, you need to bag a goal or two a match and these guys don't know what a goal is anymore.

    I am still a Pepe Mel supporter, but they need to sign one or two quality strikers during the next transfer window or we will not be watching Er Glorioso on GOLTV next year!

    Er Glorioso lets another 3 points escape from the bag losing 2-3 to cellar dwellars Real Sociedad. Down 0-2 Pereira bagged two goals in the last 10 minutes with the last one in the 85th minute. As luck would have it Real Sociedad bags the winner on a kick form their side of the pitch!

    4 games in a row the D played well and today they give up two easy goals, the offense thanks to Pereira finally bag not one but two goals, then Casto shits in his drawers (Se lo cago) and let Martinez bag his second goal in the same manner this season! According to the latest rumors Pepe Mel is good to go through next weeks game on the road against Osasuna. If they lose he'll have his head on the chopping block and will be gone. I am a Pepe Mel supporter and believe that he is the best coach for Betis right now and replacing him will not change the team.

    Do or die for Pepe Mel tomorrow in Osasuna. If he loses more than likely he will be given the boot, if he wins he gets to stay for another week, not the best situation but any where else he would have gotten the boot. The match is not on US TV or ESPN 360, and has a 1200 hrs PST KO.

    Pepe Mel may be coaching his last 45 minutes as a Betis coach as they start the second half in Osasuna losing 1-0. At this point of the match is the score remains the same Betis would move down one slot to 16th place.

    Incredible, Betis tie it up late have Osasuna against the wall shot after shot on goal, two shots off the wood work, Santa Cruz had a couple of shots he should of bagged but misses or the keeper made some great saves. Osasuna gets a DK outside of the box in injury time and score in the 92:47 to win 2-1. The Soccer Gods are not with Er Glorioso this year and many doubt he will be on the bench next week. He needs to stay on as coach, the team did everything possible to win today but win.
