Just a comparison: Player A: 138 appearances, 107 starts, 17 goals, 19 assists, 40 yellow cards Player B: 121 appearances, 101 starts, 50 goals, 16 assists, 29 yellow cards Player A is Atiba Harris, player B is Conor Casey. Atiba Harris is the player that the rest of the MLS cfans laim Casey is with the #ThugLife mantra. Admittedly there's $240K difference in salary between the two.
Spain--->MLS: Chivas--->FC Dallas--->Montreal--->CO... We get him for an international slot, and a high priced (for his MLS stats) salary. I hope he can perform for CO but this sounds a bit like Tyson Wahl aquisition.
Weird how they are trying to cut player salaries everywhere but not this yahoo who is coming off a big injury, has done basically nothing in MLS career but FO is just fine with him taking up $100- $175K of out cap...
I suppose they thought it was worth it for "just" an international spot a couple years down the road. I don't know much about him but if he is a "grinder" (hard working, won't give up), as described earlier, we could use more players posessing that "skill" on the pitch. If he can hold a ball in the forward 1/3 then that is good too as Casey seemed to be our top guy for that. For some reason, I am thinking that Bravo and OP are done making hopeful-wishing aquisitions and are planning on aquiring the guys they know can get the job done that they want. Perhaps that is my hopeful wishing.
I'm assuming that Pareja saw something he liked in Harris when they were both at Dallas 09-10 and asked for and/or ok'd his transfer.
There is a slim chance that maybe they renegotiated his contract. Could have occurred something like: Vancouver: Atiba we would like to keep you but we have to cut your salary to do it. We are willing to pay you 75k.Atiba: I'll take 125kVancouver: Perhaps we should look at other optionsSeveral days later Vancouver: Atiba, Colorado is willing to sign you for 100kAtiba: Ok I will take that Most likely it was closer to this Vancouver: Atiba, we've traded you to Colorado with no changes to your contractAtiba: WAHOO!!!!
My guess is he was alluding to the cable television channel. The content he posts on this board and what is on that channel are shockingly similar and equally fact based.
After reading all of the above posts and giving the trade a very thoughtful appraisal all I can say is, BFD!
if he turns out to be the next calaeb folan atleast he aint costing over 200 k. if his the next edu atleast his not eating up 400 k.
I'd rather skip signing the next Folan or Edu (even if it is for cheaper) and go for signing the next Dempsey or next Robbie Keane. Hell, at this point, I'd settle for the next Edson Buddle or the next Alan Gordon (I almost put down Steven Lenhart, but that made me throw up in my mouth a little bit).
What was the deal with Harris in 2012? I thought he had his knee injury this year but it was April 2011. Looks like he returned on 3/31/2012, appeared in 4 of 5 games, then disappeared again until there were 3 appearances (1 start, 2 subs) in August. Did he get hurt again?
