Put me in the A.J. camp. To do what he does in the middle without the benefit of a traditional CB's body is nothing short of a wonder.
I agree with TrickHog and Cadaver - Todd AJ Dunivant DeLaGarza is the most likable player on the team. In a very close contest Jaime Marcelo Penedo Sarvas gets honorable mention.
Good to see the league recognize why we aren't preparing for MLS Cup 2013 right now, and point out that our team was way too passive and nice on defense this year: http://www.lagalaxy.com/news/2013/11/la-galaxy-win-xbox-mls-team-fair-play-award
In related news, Gyasi Zardes came in 4th in Rookie of the Year voting. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...dillon-powers-wins-2013-att-rookie-year-award
I have no issues with Powers winning, he deserved the award. To me it's pretty clear Yedlin is the most talented player to come into the league, if it was done on raw talent I would give it to him. Yedlin if he continues to develop will be a target of big clubs pretty soon.
he's the kind of fullback every club should have, why can't we find a kid like this? im honestly surprised Zardes is 4th, he wasn't that great...
Yedlin a special talent, there's not many players in the pool like him. He was one of the only players that didn't look lost playing in the U-20 World Cup, Gil was good too. It was pretty interesting when they were playing France and he was up against the players down France's left in particular Digne who's recognized as one of the best LB prospects out there, he outplayed him and made him looks silly a couple times. In the Spain match the 3 of that back four where just terrible and got abused by Spain's forwards, in particular Javan Torre, but they didn't get much going after him. I think he should be playing for the Nats after the World Cup. Also those tournaments have a billion scouts at them, I doubt he stays long in the league. Someone is going to pay a lot of money for him (By MLS standards).
Nice, Todd! Zing! @ToddDunivant: Despite the best efforts of @MarceloSarvas we won the @MLS Team Fair Play Award. Better luck next year Celo. @LAGalaxy
The Galaxy announced it's team player awards. Nothing surprising. Keane was Golden Boot and MVP, Gonzilla was Defender of the Year, Sean Franklin was Humanitarian of the Year and Carlo Cudicini was Biggest Waste of a Roster Space of the Year…. Nice article on former G, Chris Birchall FA Cup: Why all roads lead back to Port Vale for Chris Birchall
Yes, great article! You can tell he enjoyed his time in MLS, and I really miss him. He wasn't always the most talented player, but he played with a ton of heart and I was really sad to see him go. He's always put a huge priority on his son too, so it's good to see that he's happy where he is at and ready to have stability for him. Happy trails, Chris Birchall! Space is High, Mate!
I got that game recently. They have a mode where you can be a single player of your choice. That's a little risky IMO. Imagine the fallout from spending a couple of hours living as Mike Magee. No normal human could handle the emotional trauma of being that awesome for an hour or two and then going back to a simple, mortal existence.
