I thought it might be interesting to start a thread related to RailHawks alumni. Feel free to post sightings, game analysis, etc. about players who used to wear the orange and white now plying their trade for other teams.

    To start...

Josh Gardner got the start for Columbus Crew last night in their CONCACAF Champions League match against Real Salt Lake. In the few minutes I caught, he was playing as a pretty deep left-sided midfielder, much deeper than the role he played for Rennie's side here. He was replaced in the 75th minute by Jeff Cunnigham (Forward for Midfielder) as the Crew were searching for a late winner. The game ended drawn 0-0.

    Dreadful game.

I think "deep left-sided midfielder" was pretty much a left back. I saw a lot of "Josh Gardner, defender" descriptions. Kinda weird.

He was playing left back last night. Didn't look bad at all. The worst part of the telecast was when the broadcaster said: "Josh Gardner formarly of the Puerto Rico Islanders!!".

I only caught about 15 minutes of the second half. I THOUGHT he was playing way deep on the left side ;)

I saw Heinemann got 30 minutes against DCU yesterday and I saw a header of his Onstad just pushed wide in the highlights.

Palidini made the bench, but did not play in Chicago's 3-2 win over KC. Gardner was not on the matchday roster for Columbus.

Heinemann was. Noticed a shot from him in the highlights.

Well, looks like one of our guys who had been on trial at some MLS clubs just hitched his hopes on signing with the thugs and trying to move up with them. I thought he was better than that.

I, for one, won't miss Lowry. I thought he was far too timid in some of the games last year. Often he wouldn't show for the ball when teammates were in trouble, he wouldn't go into tackles when necessary, he lost possession too easily...

On another note, here's an article on a former player I do miss:

    I liked Lowery. Now, I don't.

Yeah, Heinemann was awesome for the brief time we had him.

This is a damn shame. I really like Amir. I can only hope that he brings some class to an otherwise classless team.

Honestly, at this level of play, guys are scrapping for a job and a paycheck. I don't blame Amir a bit for hitching his wagon to the Montreal MLS train. It's a smart move.

Remember, Amir Lowery and Connally Edozien are still the only two RailHawks to ever watch a match from the Depot with the supporters. That's got to buy him some street cred around here.

I don't really blame him either, I just wish he hadn't and I continue to fail to muster any respect for the Impact.

Yup. It's a pretty awesome distinction for him to hold.

Did Stewart not watch a game with us once?

Anyway, I agree 100%. No hard feelings and I wish him well.

Speaking of Jack Stewart, he just signed with Minnesota so we'll be seeing him again at WMSP this summer. He was definitely a fan favorite in his short time with the club -- probably because of all the hobbling he did with his foot in a cast to come down to 204 after every game and speak to the fans. Truly a class act. I can't wait to welcome him back...and then heckle him :)

Our first captain. I liked him as a player to the day he decided to celebrate a bit too much after that goal against us! Quality player though.
