Great to have Steele back. Platter's departure leaves a void at the GK position, I fully expect us to sign one now, since we're down to just 1.
Jun Marques Davidson signed with Tokushima Vortis in J2 http://www.vortis.jp/news/detail.php?pressid=3644
I'll likely have to update again after tonight, but to bring it up to now: In (officially confirmed) Brad Rusin Floyd Franks Sainey Touray Kupono Low Matt Watson Kithson Bain Etienne Barbara Jonny Steele In (conjectured) Sean O'Connor Sallieu Bundu Cory Elenio Josh Gardner Amir Lowery Marques Davidson Greg Shields Brian Farber Gregory Richardson Out Tiyi Shipalane (probably to South Africa) Tom Heinemann (to Columbus Crew) Daniel Woolard (to DC United) Daniel Paladini (to Chicago Fire) Caleb Norkus (to CASL Elites) Johnny Gilkerson Andriy Budnyy (to Wilmington Hammerheads) Eric Reed (to Charlotte Eagles) Nic Platter (to Ft. Lauderdale Strikers) Josh Gardner (to Columbus Crew) Marques Davidson (to Tokushima Vortis) Out (conjectured)
Also: I only recognize some of the faces in these photos. Anybody else want to take a shot? http://www.carolinarailhawks.com/photo_gallery/gallery/id/261
I saw Gardner play against RSL in both CCL matches. Is it really conjecture anymore? Or do you still see him getting cut from the Crew?
The list there has the "out (conjectured)" heading empty right now, since there's nobody who we think is out and don't have confirmation of where they're going or at least that they are not sticking around.
The team just announced some signings. Their list is the new official section below; I'm dropping Etienne and Sainey to "conjectured" since they weren't mentioned. In (officially confirmed) Brad Rusin Floyd Franks Kupono Low Matt Watson Kithson Bain Jonny Steele Devon McKenney (not sure how I'd left him out before) Brian Farber Khano Smith Stephen Glass Chris Nurse John Krause In (conjectured) Sean O'Connor Sallieu Bundu Cory Elenio Josh Gardner Amir Lowery Marques Davidson Greg Shields Gregory Richardson Etienne Barbara Sainey Touray Out Tiyi Shipalane (probably to South Africa) Tom Heinemann (to Columbus Crew) Daniel Woolard (to DC United) Daniel Paladini (to Chicago Fire) Caleb Norkus (to CASL Elites) Johnny Gilkerson Andriy Budnyy (to Wilmington Hammerheads) Eric Reed (to Charlotte Eagles) Nic Platter (to Ft. Lauderdale Strikers) Josh Gardner (to Columbus Crew) Marques Davidson (to Tokushima Vortis)
I have not seen any of the scrimmages, but is this perhaps the RailHawks first choice keeper at the moment: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brad_Knighton
Could be. At least against WFU it was somebody I didn't recognize, but who had hair that looked kinda like Knighton's in that photo. There was also a second-stringer that wasn't Sean; again, I'm not sure who it was.
Was the second stringer Akira Fitzgerald? http://wakeforestsports.cstv.com/sports/m-soccer/mtt/fitzgerald_akira00.html
Just Curious what the general concensus is amongst the fan following regarding your teams singing of Khano Smith ? TIA
For me, I'm guardedly optimistic. I saw him play several times w/ the Revs. He's got good size, decent skill, but he didn't always seem totally focused throughout 90 minutes. A bit immature, maybe. Hopefully that's all in the past. I'm sure you will set me straight, right?
I'm not a huge fan. He can appear disinterested and lethargic at times which are not endearing qualities. His tendency to kick the ball into row Z when shooting at net was another annoyance but Nicol saw enough in him to pay him $50K+ three years in a row so there's a chance he will do well at your club. Good luck this season
So I take it that Richardson wasn't playing in the match today... Gregory Richardson joins Sounders FC camp on trial I'd hate to see him go, but we do seem pretty loaded at midfield right now.
anyone expect Richardson to be back or stick in Seattle? we've got to be hearing about some official roster spots pretty soon.
Back. But then again Seattle looked woeful against LA. Who knows? Tuesday night, at the Brickhouse, is my guess.
Yeah, a couple of the office guys mentioned at the Charlotte game that they thought the team would have some announcements to make by then. (Not that they knew who it would be either - seriously, Martin doesn't like to keep much of anybody in the loop.)
I've run into Martin at various events, like NC State games, and while he was guarded in his comments, I found him to be very helpful and revealing, especially in regards to the sanctioning issue. I have a lot of faith in him, for some reason. He seems very capable. Looking forward to a good season.
Yeah, frankly on that one he was more talkative (at least in public) than anybody else who knew stuff. But he doesn't like to let his roster be announced, or who is out with injuries, or things of that nature, and he apparently hasn't even told the whole FO who all is in camp right now. Oh yeah. I have quite a lot of confidence in him, and dread the day when he gets snatched up by a higher-level team.
