Haha, picturing someone reaching out, turning the dial at arm's length and backing off quickly.

    Oh. :(

If it cheers you up any, I just found out it's a good way further than 100 miles (160), my map reading skills are bollocks. Saved yourself a longer journey.

Ask around when you get there, you still might get lucky. Speak to hotel workers, bar and restaurant staff, go down to the stadium a day or two before and on the day of the match itself.

    Oh shit that sucks.

I've had a really shitty last couple weeks.

My suspicions were confirmed that I cannot defend my thesis in the summer despite leaving a job to come back to school (I was basically lied to so the school could get me to come teach a course for basically free).

Then I found out that despite having worked for the University in the very recent past and having had all my paper work submitted 2 weeks before my start date and most of my forms submitted a full month before that, I still won't be paid on the first pay-day.

To make matters worse, the waiver for me teaching which is covering my thesis credits is not going to cover my thesis credits because of a clerical error. Basically I'd be paying the school money to teach.

The only upside is that one of the secretaries is working with me and there may be a solution that will see my tuition covered.

Nah. Trying to finish my MA. I may go back home when I'm done (possible) or take a job as an adjunct professor somewhere (St. Louis is a real possibility). Or, I may go home and go back to C and then teach a class online at UF. Then proceed to make it rain on dem hoes (not really, well not the hoes part).

Really enjoyed my time there. It was a good time despite the problems w/ my mom's health and my dad's passing.

I didn't lime in public very often, mostly just went to friends' places. I don't really like the liming culture - went out to the avenue a few times and it was okay because of the company I kept - but the locals are so shallow and small-minded, it is painful to be around them. I thought there was a lot less traffic than when I was there last. There are also more international women in T&T now than ever before. Lots of chicas from Venezuela, Colombia, Costa Rica, DR etc etc. Lots of mamis, lots of expat Brits too.

I hate the disparity of the haves/have nots and the politrics in general. But T&T is still T&T.

    Nice.

Do shop-owners/cashiers/business people still have that stink attitude when you buy from them? Kind of like "we're doing you a favor". That's what I remember the most from my last trip back home and it's a real turn off.

And yeah you ain't lying about the have and have nots. It was ///M this and AMG that everywhere last time I was there. Now they have Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Bentleys etc.

    Trinis reach yes! :ROFLMAO:

I just find it funny how people act like you're bothering them when you're trying to buy something from them down there. If I had a dime for every snarl/cut-eye/screw up face I got when I bought something from someone I'd be a rich man.

Hell, when my mother was deciding whether to buy one thing or the other in POS from a street vendor the vendor screamed at her and demanded she give back both items! :ROFLMAO:

The only place I received anything resembling friendly customer service was on the Savannah from a fish and chips lady.
