Last thing he will ever not say to us.
I dislike him as much as the next guy, but would anyone really expect him to say "thanks" in that interview situation?
F that guy, although he did say it was a disgrace.
Who cares what some washed up bum from a CONCACAF minnow has to say?
Why should he? Mexico beat Panama. Had they lost to Panama, they'd be completely out. Man, Americans expect Mexicans to always be kissing their azz.
Hey not everyone expects him to say that don't generalize
what's with the expectation of thanks? I can care less about receiving thanks
the only thing I want from them is for them to know their shitty team is beneath ours - and as of yesterday, mission accomplished
thanks? don't need it
Once a Rafa, always a Rafa.
For him to admit thanks, it would be like the Abominable Snowman after Yukon Cornelious pushed him over the cliff.
No one in soccer has use for a humble Rafa Marquez. That would be too much.
He was apparently playing as a "false 4" when Saborio scored the other night.
In his defense, he was too tired to speak after 90 minutes with a giant fork stuck in his back.
Ehh, big deal.
Basically sums up his Red Bull career when he was on the field.
In all honesty while it was fun in the moment to say Mexico owed it to the US, in the end we beat a Panama team we should beat, throwing the game was never an option, the points fell how the points fell, and Mexico squeaked into 4th. No team need thank us for not throwing a game.
I can't believe we keep talking about this.
Get used to it. This is going to be as enduring a meme as Dos a Cero
Cause it's epic? And that was an epic night of soccer for all nations involved and even those watching from the outside. And having America turn the tables on Mexico - aka, being the clear and obvious quality team - is something in the making for these past 20 or so years. So yeah... folks are talking about.
It's not like Mexico has even qualified. Remember, they squeaked into 4TH. Imagine if that were us? Ohh boy.
Rafa is fun to hate.
I don't think he needs to say thanks either. Why would he?
But he continues to be a douche of the highest order.
Rafa being Rafa...no big deal
Really wouldn't want it any other way. Ardido is certainly better than the cowering bunch of wusses that that team has turned into.
He should thank us most of all. His defense on Costa Rica's game winning goal was horrid. He walked toward the player on the ball who was already covered, leaving the would be header wide open.
But he's too proud. He's probably still mad at the flack he got for being a disaster in MLS. To wit he doesn't really have much to be proud about right now. But it takes many years for some former great, revered entertainers to realize they aren't the gift to the world they used to be, if it ever happens.
Hey, at least Rafa didn't compare us unfavorably to that mad skillz'd granma of Volpe's. With the Mexicans, that's Progress.
Separate names with a comma.
