This was confusing me for a while since Seattle and Portland didn't play. The 12,000 tickets sold were for the Portland/Vancouver game today. Apparently Portland has been getting around 10,000 for their home reserve games. Tickets are $10. Pretty impressive.
Sorry, my bad. I know I read Seattle somewhere, but whatever, it is impressive. (Thing is everything I post is probably only half right, but there is always a nugget of truth in it somewhere. )
i wasn't referring to 10,000 at a reserve game. i was referring to the huge waive of momentum the fanbase had coming out of the back to back MLS Cup Champion seasons and the 2008 season. we wasted a huge opportunity to have a Portland-type scene. i hope the new cozy stadium revives some of the atmosphere that has been lost since that time. i have no way to measure it, but i'm convinced the base fanbase in Houston is larger than Portland. in my line of work i deal with tons of different kind of clients and i always find Dynamo season ticket holders/SG members/hardcore fans. perhaps the new stadium and its limited seating will kickstart the passion. that Western Conference Final against KC. damn, that was a crowd!

That was a sold-out amazing crowd! I do believe we have an massive fanbase....Dynamo jerseys are seen everywhere, non-flea market and flea market types, the one thing I will never forget from the all-star game was the insane number of Orange everywhere! I remember asking myself where those Dynamo fans were at during home games. Newtex, how are the playoffs determined for this reserve league?
I have not seen anything official other than the statement that there will be 8 teams in the playoffs. I would guess the top 2 in each division plus the 2 best 3rd place teams. If they used straight seeding the playoffs would look something like this although games played is wildly different so just an example: W1 Seattle v. E3 New England W2 Portland v. E2 Columbus E1 DC United v. W3 San Jose C1 Chicago v. C2 Houston Or it could be something completely different.
I blame it all on Bill White. If he had followed through on his pledge to build the stadium there would not have been a lost opportunity. He allowed his political ambitions to interfere with his pledge and kicked the whole deal down the road for others to deal with. If the stadium had been finished during the 2008 season, I'd bet there would have been a huge bump in the fanbase.
Well . . at least he is out of politics now. If we finish strong this year . . ticket sales will be great for next year. A good season next year with new-ish fans in the stands - will increase the "base." The next 18 months of soccer are the most critical in Dynamo history for the organization.
Meh. The new car smell will indeed wear off. Then what. Winning a title in year one, if that doesn't pull in a lifer Dynamo fan from us that live around greater houston then its just not in their DNA to support live soccer.

The Dynamo reserves lost this morning in Colorado, 3-0. Only three games left for the Dynamo reserves. The next game is September 10 in Kansas City.
Glad to see that Cruz, Bruin, and Camargo all got some time in this game. Let's see if the they can contribute down the stretch. In the longer term, I also see that Brad Bourgeois made the trip and got a few minutes at the end. We saw him at the last reserve home game. He's still in the academy, but clearly has the physical capabilities to handle play at this level. It'll be interesting to see how he develops.
Anyone know how Camargo did in the Reserves match V. Colorado?? They mention he played 82 minutes but nothing on form or quality...
Since nobody is mentioning him; I'm guessing he must have not looked all that well. Too honest? Sorry :-/

That's the next one and the last one. Unless the reserves make the playoffs but those likely also be away games unless we win the Central/Mountain division.
