really? with the bad luck of having good results but not being able to finish the season well I would bet other wise, plus they have some lingering board/fan/coach issues if I remember

nothing against rennes, but i was really quite sad for the troyens, who looked outclassed at first but then played well over their heads and really deserved at least prolongations... even though they were fading fast and likely would have lost in ET.

they even had two double chances that could have put them through, for their only opportunity to get anything good out of a very dark season.

their little no. 33, jean, played one helluva a match.

sorry, that was the league cup match i was talking about. i just saw the score of their match tonight.

It was a very strange half of the season for Rennes. With all the disappointments from last season's ending and seemingly no real ambitions for this one except a well publicised charte de bonne conduite and the ironical adventures of M'Vila and co that followed, there was not much to expect ; at most being able to stay in the first half of the table which was far from obvious given the dismal start of the championship.

Deep inside, in a place where hope is always alive because well, there's still a possibility, I was nurturing the eventuality that a succession of good results could ignite something - let's face it I would have had more merit if I wrote about it at the time rather than now...But let's be honest...I wasn't sure about it at all ! And here we are, lying in fourth with some memorable games like the PSG one, some solid performances and yes, some very lucky results.

Anyway, once again, it seems that Rennes get the best results when they assume to rely on counters and not desperately try and prove that they dictate the game...Et bien, so be it ! If it can bring us something, I won't complain !

honestly I was very skeptical of rennes, maybe mid table would have been my guess but like you said the coach switched to a more counter attacking side which works well cause you have the speed for it

the club, coach and players rose from the situations that were going on, add some other mid to top clubs doing ok-underperforming and rennes slot right in, it still needs a bit more imo to get above the other similar tier clubs; fcgb, lille, tfc, asse but I haven't heard any rumors going your way

On a slightly off topic related question, is it true that Salma Hayek is a fan of Rennes?

I feel very calm now. Rennes are clearly the underdogs there so there's nothing to lose, everything to gain in this final. No heartbreak in sight like in 2009 against the peasa Guinguamp as we'd need an exploit to beat Saint-Étienne.

Having followed the SRFC lately I'm even psychologically prepared to the case where Rennes would lead and lose everything in the dying moments or during the penalty session...

    Je suis blindé...Enfin en principe...

The guys did their best - which is not very much at the moment - but I guess Rennes didn't deserve it. We also needed a bit of luck, we had none.

Si l'espoir fait vivre, les supporters rennais doivent être immortels...

Complete shot in the dark but can anyone name the song in this video from 1:43-1:56

It was played while Stade Rennais was warming up at home against PSG. Maybe somewhere on the club website it shows a list of songs they play during the pre-match festivities?
