I think the steel is finally starting to go up now, but it's ********in ridiculous. It was announced to be built before the Red Bull takeover and we are now in year 3 of Red Bull.
I agree, its crazy! How can something take that long to get built. Anyhow the good thing is that it IS BEING built right now and this NYC-NJ classico will be thru the roof!
You all being surprised that Energy Drink Park aint even 1/4 of the way built already is a real laugh... I guess you people just dont realize how incompitent energy drink are and AEG were as well... no shock here... the real question now is who builds and opens up their SSS 1st.... The Energy Drink or Mr. Met....
I vote for RB because if another NY team is announced - they are going to feel the heat! I heard at halftime yesterday that the steel foundation is coming in and they laid all the ground work etc.
CitiField broke groung on Nov 13 2006 (my mom's bday) and the real construction didnt begin until Feb/Mar 2007. I drive by it everyday, going to work and coming home. Not to mention the several times per day that I drive by it, visiting customers, going to home depot, and running errands. I believe that a certain Met forum has a timeline. If I can find it. Ill post it for everyone to see.
My bad I stand corrected. Construction started Nov 2006. I must have been thinking about when the superstructure started going up. This time lapse is AWESOME shows every thing that went down. Check it out. http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/nym/ballpark/citi_field_timelapse.jsp
It started in JJuly, 2006. Construction had already begun before the ceremonial ground breaking. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2660240
